Reply to “Square, Marcus Waring or Cinnamon Club ?” (in Recommend me a restaurant or a bar)

For dinner I'd have gone to Marcus Waring. I love The Square but for lunch. More

Don't make me ask, just fill my glass up with iced tap water with a slice of lemon and keep filling me up until you see water oozing from my pores! More

As long as you are told up front and they can provide a level of service that meets your requirements and theirs, not a problem. Too often in my experience, the service is bad so you end up rushing. More

Don't rush, if you haven't already…mixed experiences. Think that Conran does it better. Room is great, service very patchy, food inconsistent. More

Thread “Which lives longer in the memory: the food or the service?” (in Recommend me a restaurant or a bar)

It's a subject I debate with friends endlessly. I have always been baffled as to why, unlike restaurants in any major US city, London restauaraters don't seem to invest any time, effort or money into ensuring that their staff are knowledgeable, friendly and attentive. Service in most London restaurants, event the best, is awful! More

If you are still looking, Boundary in Shoreditch so might be in the wrong location. Inn the Park has the best lcoation in London- St James's park, but I have to say last time I went the service was appalling. More

The Square, best value in town, £24 I think. Two Michellin stars for less than £25?! plus you always get two bonus courses! More

Depends on how far you are prepared to travel, North London, L'Absinthe in Primrose Hill, Smiths is very good in Smithfield- all you need to know about the provenance of your beef and much more- Simpsons is always very good, Rules is also extremely good. Don't do South of Soho. More
