Oxo Tower Restaurant (Oxo Tower Wharf, Barge House Street, London, SE1 9PH) Visited the Oxo Tower back in April with a couple of business contacts. As ever, service at the Oxo was first class, polite, friendly and helpful. We all had different starters and mains, and the waiting staff provided information on the various dishes, to allow us to make better choices. Only complaint, and not necessarily aimed at the restaurant itself is that the taxi company operating outside are very expensive and quite pushy. Whether they are connected to the restaurant or not, I associate them with the dining experience, and I felt a little uncomfortable with them. However, that aside, with views to die for, great service, and good food and wine, the Oxo Tower still remains a great destination restaurant in my eyes.

@15 (London Capital Club, 15 Abchurch Lane, London, EC4N 7BW) Welcome was as good as ever, and the service in the restaurant was very good. New waiter, started today, used my name, was very courteous, served ladies first etc. All nice touches. Food was mixed; chicken, macaroni and kidneys were excellent. Quail was a little too small and slightly undercooked, but not enough to worry about. Desserts were excellent, with a full range of coffees offered and taken! Overall, the Club gives the right impression, service was very good, and I feel comfortable taking colleagues and business partners there.

Le Comptoir Gascon (61-63 Charterhouse Street, London, EC1M 6AH) Lunch for 2, starting with the piggy treats; a great selection of cuts, including a taster of delicious black pudding. A great way to start a lunch, accompanied with a basket of bread and a nice glass of red from the well stocked cellar. Moved onto mains, I had the lamb, friend had the Cassoulet. Both well cooked, although Lamb was a little over chewy. Again, accompained by a nice glass of red wine. Atmosphere was good, feels authentic, and the service was good, with the servers ready to answer questions on the food. A nice relaxing lunch. The only downside are the toilets, which are basically a door straight off the restaurant, and lack some privacy. Don't let this put you off, but just make sure you lock the door!

If you want authentic ribs, chicken wings and US BBQ, this is the chain to go for. The chicken wings (Diablo of course) are the only starter to choose, and the combos are good value for money. They're often busy, so service can be a bit patchy as staff seem to be running around a lot serving too many tables, but generally they keep a smile on their face. If you've ever got a US ex-pat in your office hankering after some BBQ, get him down to Bodeans.

Pacific Oriental (52 Threadneedle Street, London, EC2R 8AY) The food at PO is always of a high standard, and the whole ‘fusion’ approach doesn't spoil the fact that what's served is good quality food with strong hints of the Orient. The platters for sharing are a great way to kick off a lunch, and if you haven't tried them before, check out the teas! when the bar downstairs is busy, a real buzz is generated, and the venue lifts a couple of extra notches.

Boisdale of Bishopsgate (Swedeland Court, 202 Bishopsgate, London, EC2M 4NR) Continues to provide good quality food, mainly sourced from Scotland. Haggis starter highly recommended, as you get just the right amount to remind you how good Haggis can be when well cooked and made with good quality ingredients. Have it without the whiskey. Service was excellent, and staff knew the menu and food inside out.
