Beaufort House (354 Kings Road, London, SW3 5UZ)

Great place – headed there over the weekend with a few friends for dinner. Super location if you're keen to go on out after. The food was good and the cocktails awsome, nice wine list too, not too pricey. Really buzy but not too ‘barry’ as some of the other places are along the Kings Road are. Would definitely reccommend for an evening out. Often walk past it during the daytime over the weekend too and it always looks to be busy at lunchtimes. Nice and bright for summer with the windoews etc. Will go back and would reccommend for sure.

Sumosan (26b Albemarle Street, London, London, W1S 4HY)

I visited Sumosan with a client last week and was really pleasantly suprised. Whilst I really love the sushi at Nobu it is just that bit to ‘namey’ and this place provides a great alternative. The dining room is well spaced and airy, the tables for 2 perhaps a bit close if you dont want your neighbours to overhear, but that can be said of most places. The service was ok, unremarkable, which in my book is a good thing – if i dont remember it there probably wasn't much wrong with it. We ate Seaweed Salad, California Rolls, Tempura, the Salmon Sashimi salad and a few other standard bit and bobs, all very nice. It's pretty pricy though, around £65 per head for those bits and half a bottle of wine – I'd sooner go somewhere cheaper if dining out with friends, and probably get a similar standard of food, so I suppose what your paying for is the Mayfair location, dining room and the lovely presentation of the dishes. I Imagine that its good fun for dinner. The atmosphere was dying a bit by 2pm – so not great for a long boozy one, but then if you're at a Japanese you're probably not in for one of those anyway.

Les Deux Salons (40-42 William IV Street, Strand, London, London, WC2N 4DD)

Editor's pick

I've eaten here twice now, both at lunchtime. The venue is buzzy yet spacious (think Dean Street Townhouse with more room to manoeuvre) and there are some great tables for groups of 4/5, particularly upstairs.

The food is great. A really good mix of lighter and more hefty dishes (pork belly etc) so something to suit everyone. The dauphinoise potatoes are really good.

My only critisism would be re. the service. Not awful by any means, but a little distracted and unattentive both times. I had to prompt the waiter over having waited about 10/15 minutes to order. That said, he was very engaging once we'd got his attention. Very helpful too with the wine though suspiciously pushy with the daily special…

All in all a great place for a relaxed business meet or lunch/dinner with friends. Definitely worth a visit.
