Kyashii (4a Upper St Martin's Lane, London, London, WC2H 9NY)

Just took clients here for lunch and was not only embarassed by my choice but will never go back again. The most inept service I have ever encountered, we were sat for ages and had to request menus and drinks from a waitress. When my cilents wanted a soft drink, waitress had to go away then come back to tell us that wine, beer, water or green tea were the only choices, no cocacola, lemonade, juice or any other soft drinks. We couldn't believe it! Waiter didn't understand our orders and kept repeating them again and again and food took far too long to come. Not to mention the interior is incredibly 90's (which just seemed sterile and dated) and we were freezing cold sat in this big space against a white wall with space age pink circular disc lights and a glowing neon green bar. Made Roswell look appealing. Sashimi was fresh, but had to ask twice for soy sauce, then got only two individual soy sauce dishes instead of the 4 required, had to ask for this of course. Soft shell crab “salad” consisted of 4 slightly cold, watery and less than fresh pieces upended on a plate like stone henge round some flaccid looking lettuce. Mains? Where were the mains, an hour later they appeared, not til after my client going down to the bathroom heard the manager bellowing, where are the effing table **'s mains?!! Duck arrived cold, salmon luke warm and beef slightly hotter. Where was our rice, where was the black cod? They asked did we want the rice later with the black cod…uhh no, would be nice with our current cold main dishes thank you. Flavours of mains were there if only the timings had been right. All in all appalling service was the worst thing about this experience, I forgot to mention sleazy/greasy comments by waiter to top it off, just what you need, although perhaps some are flattered??

Koffmann's at The Berkeley (The Berkeley, Wilton Place, London, London, SW1X 7RL)

Memorable dining experience! Took my boyfriend for his birthday and we were shown exceptional service and made to feel like kings. Beautiful understated yet elegant dining space, although seated in the centre the space still has a feeling of privacy and warmth with muted, soft green interior. Service was charming, friendly and the sommelier was helpful without being condescending (as some places are apt to be in terms of recommending greatly expensive bottles of wine) A complimentary course of seafood bolognese was unique and delicious… exclamations of “why hasn't this been done before?”, ribbons of calamari and a rich yet light seafood bolognese sauce. Signature dishes were expectedly impressive. Large meaty scallops with squid ink were quite possibly the best we'd ever had, lobster bisque full bodied and mouthwatering. The pigs trotter stuffed with sweetbreads, reached new depths of richness (for those that can handle it, and those that can't a couple of mouthfuls perfectly satisfied every taste bud) the pistachio souffle was a fragrant cloud of heaven and a must order dessert. Personalized menus and an apron from Signor Koffman himself completed a very special birthday evening.

Definitely recommend Koffmans to anyone who loves french cuisine. Embrace the richness and enjoy every moment of your dining experience.

Cha Cha Moon (15-21 Ganton Street, London, W1F 9BN)

Without doubt the worst meal I've had in London and such a disappointment having heard it was ok and the location and ambience certainly lead us to believe this place although cheap would have potential. Grey greasy noodles tasting worse than a pot noodle, duck had some flavour however seemed like it had been fried a thousand times. Chicken stir fry dish was nondescript. Why you would pay more than Busaba (which in my view is the best food and best value of any asian dining establishment in Soho) for this grey, greasy, tasteless food I do not know. Terribly disappointing and hope they make the most of the location and generally good staff by improving the food.
