Hasn’t rated any restaurants this year.

Gourmet Burger Kitchen, Basingstoke (Unit R8 Lower Ground, Festival Square, Basingstoke, Hampshire, RG21 7BE)

Nothing really special. I don't know why our Kiwi friends rave about this place. The normal beef burgers are pretty average and I found mine very dry even when cooked medium. If you want something different and in my opinion better then try the buffalo burger, it was far more flavoursome. GBK is pricey and average to be honest, it just looks and feels like an expensive burger bar. It's saving grace (for this particular restaurant anyway) is that it is better than Pizza Hut and Burger King which are just round the corner.

The Anchor Inn (Lower Froyle, Alton, Hampshire, GU34 4NA)

A very well laid out and thoughtful gastropub on the edge of Alton, Hampshire. The food and service have built up quite a following in the area and rightly so. There is an excellent choice of food and alot of it is sourced locally which is the trend these days. What's also nice is that the beer too is local from Triple F to Andwell there's a good selection on tap. The food is fresh and the service is very friendly. If the weather is nice the beer garden is quiet and large with a ‘wild’ meadow area off to one side. If it's a bit cold you can take blankets outside and sit and watch the world go by (slowly). It's a real find and I can thoroughly recommend the fish and chips on a Friday.

Black & Blue Rochester Walk (1-2 Rochester Walk, London, SE1 9AF)

The worst steak and service I've had the misfortune to have in London. A 45 minute wait for a table was OK given that it was a really busy Friday but after the service was exceptionally poor. As for the £24 rib eye that was asked for as medium, it would have done a great job replacing the sole of someone's shoe. Over done, terrible and expensive. The waiter could not have cared less once informed of said shoe leather / steak impersonator. I cannot recommend Black and Blue in any way, shape or form.

Roast (Floral Hall, Stoney Street, London, SE1 1TL)

Excellent breakfasts and seasonal British produce. However, it is expensive on all fronts and service can be less than welcoming. Otherwise a good find amongst the many in Borough Market.
