Koffmann's at The Berkeley (The Berkeley, Wilton Place, London, London, SW1X 7RL) I ate on a Saturday night and had a reservation at 9.30 arrived 15 mins early and asked to go to the table but was told it wasn't ready so i went to the bar ordered wine and perused the restaurant. i noticed 2 tables empty and was ok till 20 mins later I was led to one of those tables. This is so annoying in restaurants. The service from then on was good although the sommeliers need to be more in tune with one another as they contradicted each other on my enquiry about the wine. The food was excellant the snails for starter, pigs trotter main and soufle dessert were all excellant signature dishes cooked precisely and flavoursome. Apart from the service the only other drawback is the room itself ,It has no natural light is bland in design and my table shook every time a tube went undrneath us !!! Overall worth a visit because the food is very good

Black Boys Inn (Henley Road, Hurley, Berkshire, SL6 5NQ) In all of my time of eating in established restaurants I have never been to such an overated restauarant. I know the last chef left for the three tuns nearby but there should be no excuse for the offering we received. The service was slow and at times rude .the food was bland and pretentious and the price was that of similar establishments nearby but without the quality. The only plus side was the setting which is beautiful

The Hand & Flowers (West Street, Marlow, Buckinghamshire, SL7 2BP) I have visited this establishment twice. The first time 2 years ago and it was excellant. The man behind the stoves cooked with passion flair and it showed all round. The along came Great British Menu and no doubt put his restuarant firmly on the map. However the food now lacks the passion and in fact is insulting. 10.00 for a scotch egg a la GBM it is a disgrace.I hope the chef rediscovers his passion and forgets his greed because long after the publicity dies down it will be the food that is remembered .

The Waterside Inn (Ferry Road, Bray, Berkshire, SL6 2AT) I visit this restaurant about twice a year and it never fails to impress me in its consistency. As ever the service led by Diego is nothing short of brilliant. The food is as flavoursome as it ever was and executed with attention to detail. The wine list is frustrating as it only has french wines and is missing out on some wonderful additions. The only negative could be the value for money aspect. I personally expect to pay top dollar in a place like this but my guests seem to differ.Although to celebrate 25 years of 3 michelan stars I hear they are doing some great lunchtime deals!!!

Scott's (20 Mount Street, London, London, W1K 2HE) This is one of the great rooms in the world. If you are lucky enough to get a atable around the oyster bar just sit back relax and take the world in.Service is excellant and the menu simple but cooked beautifully. The only minus is some of the wine mark ups outrageous. The doorman bids you farewell and you leave lighter in the wallet but filled with great comfort knowing you had a great experience.

The Hinds Head (High Street, Bray, Berkshire, SL6 2AB) I have eaten at this place several times and the one consistent factor is the friendly but inefficient service. This is just a money machine hiding behind an excellant chef but gives little regard to its customers. But more fool us we keep going ther to tell everyone that we ate at Hestons pub. This time the food was good but I have also eaten badly before again inconsistent. Overall it really is hit or miss and therefore do not believe all the press hype… it can be excellant and it can be terrible but what it always is is inconsistent

The Sportsman (Faversham Road, Seasalter, Kent CT5 4BP) I heard a alot about this place and by the time I got to it I hoped it would be good to justify the 2 hour journey. On first viewing I thought i got the wrong place as the outside could do with a complete makeover to stop it looking such a dump!!! Then we entered and it all changed. Service was excellant informative friendly and efficient. Again I was fooled by the first impression of a girl covered in tats with a skirt and Doc Martins!!! The food is quite simply the best I have eaten for ages. A good use of local produce which is beautifuly put together with great care and attention, Wine list dissapoints as it is bland and predictable. Overall this is a must place to eat at and unlike me do not let first impressions fool you

Last minute booking on a saturday night Warm welcome at reception then led to a horrible part of the restaurant but to be fair at least we got in. Food was simple honest and well executed Wine list as you would expect mainly Italian but lacked flair or imagination. Wine service excellant food service not so good I was given wrong starters and mains.Overall a good night and I would recommend

Corrigan's Mayfair (28 Upper Grosvenor Street, London, London, W1K 7EH) In fairness this is a review of sunday lunch which offers a limited menu Met at reception by a wonderful smile and an efficient receptionist. The room is bland and to me reminisent of a 1970,s steakhouse it truly is awful. the menu was limited and the food offering therefore average but on presentation was cooked with precision and well seasoned. The roast had seen better days but we were a late booking. The wine list is substancial and not intimidating with excellant offerings by the glass and carafe. I will return on a mid week time to see if there is a difference. Service was excellant at all times and very attententive.

Wild Honey (12 St George Street, London, London, W1S 2FB) This is not a place to sit back and indulge far from it .This is a well oiled machine that works on excellant value for money. The food is flavoursome but sloppy in presentation and at times gives the feeling of being rushed. The service at reception is functional but not warm. In contrast the waiting staff are informative and efficient with total knowledge of the impressive cheeseboard.I would like to go again on a quieter night …if there is one

The Royal Oak (Paley Street, Maidenhead, Berkshire, SL6 3JS) Excellant food, great usuage of seasonal produce cooked in a precise simple but flavoursome manner. Service was attentive but not intrusive.Wine list impressive and apart from the obvious “ look what I got” wines it also offers a good selection of well priced wines.
