Locanda Locatelli (8 Seymour Street, London, London, W1H 7JZ)

Although he's now getting a run for his money from L'Anima, for me Locanda remains the top Italian in town. The service is exemplary and the cooking is exquisite. The quality of flavour and the cooking never fails to delight and impress. Give me dinner here every time instead of the poncy indulgence of the modern french styled London Michelin restaurants.

Aqua Kyoto (Fifth Floor, 30 Argyll Street, London, London, W1B 3BR)

The room is great and when it's full it must be really buzzy. Unfortunately the night I was there it was less tahn half full so it completely lacked ambience. The food is ok rather than exceptional. Pricing is similar to Rokka and Zuma but quality is a lot lower. It has a great bar to hang in but for dinner jump in a cab and go to Rokka, Zuma or one of the Nobus.

Scott's (20 Mount Street, London, London, W1K 2HE)

Without question this is currently the restaurant of choice in central london. Unfortunately everyone else seems to agree making the only difficulty; actually getting a table. The food is of the highest quality and simply but skillfully prepared. Great ambience and excellent value.

Paramount (Centre Point, 101-103 New Oxford Street, London, London, WC1A 1DD)

Despite a shockingly unapealing entrance, once inside the club the views are stunning. However the restaurant area is dull. The furnishing is poor and lighting only a touch above ‘Dans le Noir’. The food quality was ok but have little idea about it's presentation as the lighting was so low. Amazing how a stunning venue is nearly empty on a Friday evening.

Alloro (19-20 Dover Street, London, London, W1S 4LU)

The restaurant sits at the top end of the middle tier. It consistently delivers good quality and interesting food. Lacks a little in terms of atmosphere and buzz but where it matters i.e. the food it provised a high standard.

Restaurant Critic

Lutyens (85 Fleet Street, London, London, EC4Y 1AE)

Another in a long line of classic terence Conran restaurants. On this occaision his Irish chef has added Cubeens and champ to the expected crustacea and charcouterie. to say there's nothing new may sound bad in this case it's not. well executed french classics are what we expect and are served exceptionally well. as with Boundary the new conran restaurants show how badly the standards have dropped in his old empire since he departed. One small gripe – they need to turn the lights down during the evening and a sommelier with a personality would be helpful.
