Belgo Noord (72-73 Chalk Farm Road, London, London, NW1 8AN)

My husband and I recently went to the Belgo restaurant at Chalk Farm road. It is such a fun and funky place and the food was excellent. My husband had the wild boar sausages, and I have to say after having a taste of his I was starting to regret my decision to try the beef carbonnade. Those were the best sausages ever! My beef was nice as well, and there were plums and apples in to give it some tartness and depth. Yum.

The afters were lovely, chocolate and orange bread and butter pudding. My husband had something with meringue and strawberries with cream, he actually liked mine better and so did I. The service was fast and friendly, and the guys working there were all very attentive and welcoming. Overall, we would go back there in a heartbeat, but next time I'm getting the sausages!

Oh and the fruit beers are really nice, I know you can get those in Tesco or Sainsburys now but it was nice to try some different flavours. Reasonably priced food and drinks as well.

The Real Greek Spitalfields (6 Horner Square, London, London, E1 6EW)

I work in the city, and have been to quite a few restaurants in and around central London. This has to be by far the worst experience I have had so far. The service was rushed and the food was cold (and I didn't order cold meze either, it was supposed to be hot food). The cuts of meat used in the souvlaki were substandard, I don't think asking for edible, tender meat for £20 is unreasonable! It tasted burnt, yet still managed to arrive below room temperature. I mean, how difficult is it to get souvlaki right?

If you want to go out for a nice meal, then try La Chappelle, or St John, Rhodes 24 or any number of delightful pubs in the area. But steer well clear of The Real Greek. The name is deceptive, as it seemed neither real nor Greek (I used to live a block away from a real family run Greek place, and this place gives Greek restaurants a bad name).
