Crazy Bear (26-28 Whitfield Street, London, W1T 2RG)

Editor's pick

I was very impressed by Crazy Bear – I was a little nervous when we went having heard many good things, but lived up to everything. The food was absolutely mouth wateringly incredible, some different twists to classics and some excitingly tempting different choices, I went with 4 friends and every dish we had was superb. The service was efficient and discreet, though perhaps could have been slightly friendlier. The ambience is second to none, very intimate we all felt we had a really special night. It is no wonder Crazy Bear was voted as the No.1 place to take a date – it is an absolute hands down winner that shows class, imagination and originality.

Devonshire Terrace (Building 9, Devonshire Square, London, EC2M 4WY)

I have only managed to have breakfast here since it opened, but the experience was so pleasant I can not wait to go back! The service is excellent, attentive, friendly and welcoming, the food was superb – simple classic done exquisitely well. I would certainly highly recommend it, and like I say I can't wait until I have an excuse to go back – I see a few working lunches coming up!!!

Black & Blue Rochester Walk (1-2 Rochester Walk, London, SE1 9AF)

I have never had a more awful experience, I would rather go to a kebab shop and sit outside in a puddle then ever go back. There was a FLY in the prawn cocktail… The service was appalling, when we complained about the fly we were told by the extremely rude manager with a huge attitude problem "well it's not fine dining"- I think it can be safely guaranteed that this is the only thing we agreed with!!! The food was distictly below average and totally overpriced. I could have got a better steak at my local pub for a fraction of the price. Take my advice stay as far away as possible!
