Pizza East (56 Shoreditch High Street, London, E1 6JJ)

I went to Pizza East with high expectations following some good reports from friends – i have to be honest, I was disappointed. I ordered a pizza that was supposed to have spicy sausage on top – the sausage that i did get wasn't even remotely spicy and the pizza overall was pretty bland. I seem to recall that the wine I had was nice. I didn't think much of the service either, i felt the staff were more interested in something else than in actually serving people. Perhaps my expectations were too high, but I can't honestly see what the fuss is about. Dare I say i've had a better pizza in Pizza Express?!

Mien Tay (122 Kingsland Road, London, London, E2 8DP)

Another favourite of mine. Mien Tay is one of the best Vietnamese places i've been to so far. really lovely food – the clay pot curry is great, especially with tofu and I love the chicken with lemon grass and chilli. Service can be a bit brusk sometimes, but that's probably because there is normally a huge queue of people waiting to take your table.

Santa Maria Del Sur (129 Queenstown Road, London, London, SW8 3RH)

I went here for lunch the other day and was blown away! We were the only people in there due to the time of day, hence the slightly lower score for atmosphere, although one of my fellow diners assured me that in the evenings it's fantastic. Every part of the meal was wonderful, the bread rolls to start with came with this delicious blue cheese butter. For my main I had a breaded steak fillet with garlic and parsley chips which i'd highly recommend (i think it may only be on the lunch menu having looked at their website) followed by a wonderful Argentine coffee. I also pinched a bit of my friends dessert, which was ice cream and nuts – just too good to describe!Seriously – I live in east London, but i'd travel to Battersea for another meal here any day. I'm keen to give it a try in the evenings. Brilliant place. Oh and the service was excellent too!

Yum Yum Thai Restaurant (183-187 Stoke Newington High Street, London, N16 0LH)

This is one of my favourite restaurants in London. I love the ambiance, the food is fantastic and the service is always good. I'd highly recommend the lamb mussaman curry and also the kai lad prik. Brilliant place to eat.
