Goldfish (82 Hampstead High Street, London, NW3 1RE) I find it hard to believe that somewhere that once got 9.8 out of 10 in a national newspaper can have had such a fall from grace. This local favourite got a new chef sometime in 2010 and he started to tinker with the menu from the off – the quality has definitely gone down. This was never a cheap option , even for the local cliental in NW3 – however there is a real feeling of being charged Hampstead Prices for mediocre back street China Town quality – nothing grabs you anymore The staff seem to have lost that enthusiastic buzz that made it such a great place in the past and mistakes are made on nearly every visit – eventually it just becomes the norm . I note that Goldfish is now part of a 15 strong group/chain of restaurants and maybe this is the problem. Shame – but from going once every couple of months in the past we'll not be back. Gung hay fat choy
