Criterion (224 Piccadilly, London, W1J 9HP)

I'm not sure what has happened to the ‘once’ great Criterion. I dined on Friday night with great anticipation only to be brought back down to earth with a bump…Firstly before I start the food was excellent. I had the Terrine followed by the pork finished with the divine crème Brule. The wine was also excellent but i played safe as the waitress had no idea what she was talking about after having asked for the sommelier.

The service was poor we were given a shy little eastern European girl who seemed lost with what was being asked of her…she even asked how my friends pork should be cooked???

Our starter’s arrived before our wine, which was left on the bar for 10 minutes before it was brought over.

The manager was a charming chap but by the time he made contact while on our desserts the damage had been done.

Won’t be going back…such a shame to see it crumble to this

Galvin La Chapelle (St Botolphs Hall, 35 Spital Square, London, London, E1 6DY)

This restaurant is wonderful, tucked away of the beaten streets its enternance is just as grand as its food. I went last Friday and was truly blown away by the quality of the food and the service.

The idea of having bistro deluxe next door is a masterstroke as we enjoyed cocktails the beforehand.

Excellent evening and I will be returning, the veal cooked 4 ways was amazing

Gaucho Sloane (89 Sloane Avenue, London, London, SW3 3DX)

Gaucho Sloane has the ability to transport you to Argentina the second you walk through the door, the hosts are welcoming and polite, on this occasion we were running late but they held our table for us as we explained our situation. Many restaurants simply don’t listen to the Guest in these situations.

We had our normal table by the window, perfect for watching Sloane go about its business. I had the 300g Ancho which melted in my mouth I had it cooked Med, the waitress recommended this and she was spot on. Describing how the fat would melt into the steak ensure a fuller beefy flavor.

The sommelier recommended the Catena Alta Malbec, a truly wonderful selection for one of Gaucho's favorite wine makers. I have since returned to Gaucho to purchase the wine from the cavas wine shop in Piccadilly.

I will be returning as I can’t get enough of the Gaucho atmosphere

Gaucho Charlotte Street (60a Charlotte Street, London, W1T 2NU)

I visited Gaucho Charlotte Street on New Year’s Eve, and I have to say the service and quality of the Menu was second to none. They really went to town to ensure we had an evening to remember. The GM (Michael) I think his name was charming and polite.

We started out evening in the opulent and stylish tasting room; we sampled 4 Malbec’s even before we were seated with the lovely Jake – great knowledge and a charming fella indeed the un oaked Malbec from Donald Hess was simple divine.

The menu was well craved and presented with style and sophistication, our waitress was also excited her diction whilst doing the famed ‘meat Board’ was clear that left me wanting more.

I have visited many Gaucho's and have very rarely walked feeling hard done by, this place captures all that is great about argentine culture and leaves you wishing you were in the hassle and bustle of BA…

Gaucho Richmond (The Towpath, Richmond Riverside, London, TW10 4UJ)

Picture the scene, your walking down Richmond Tow Path and you stumble across the beautiful location that is Gaucho Richmond, with hast I popped in a booked a table of 4 for later that evening. We arrived early and enjoyed the new cocktail list the ‘Grape Mojito’ was amazing.

After sampling a few Malbecs with the in house sommilier we sat down at our table over looking the thames, beforelong we were greeted with the beef board showcasing all that is wonderful about Gaucho. I plumped for the Lomo 300g cooked med are…AMAZING, not sure what these other 2 reviewers were eating but must have been a different restaurant!!!

To close Gaucho, isnt cheap but neither is the fat duck!!! my point if your offering something of the quality that this steak is and serving some of the best new world wines around. Then you can justify it which Gaucho does very well.

Restaurant Critic

Gaucho Piccadilly (25 Swallow Street, London, London, W1B 4QR)

Headed back last night for the launch of the new winter menu, which i have to say ticks all the boxes. I started salmon ceviche which was wonderful the balance between salt & sweetness was wonderful. After seeing the mouth watering meat board a went for the 300g rib eye or Ancho as the lovely waitress mentioned. It was like eating butter she mentioned have it a medium and she was right…so right.

What Gaucho offers is simply but amazing the menu has shifted in a new direction its captures whats great about Argentine culture, rustic, wholesome food with amazing service. The latter made more apprant when i arrived and they offered the same Malbec i had last time, simple things go along way…

We closed of the night by heading to the supper lounge for a night cap, the DJ relaxed the mood with a mix of gotan project & latin house.

A wonderful night, Piccadilly just keeps getting better & better
