Ahh the Botanist…we have shared many great evenings and indeed, mornings, together!Having lived just down the road from the Botanist it became my local and I must say now it isn't on my doorstep I do miss it. This is the place for an evening of cocktails, canapes and laughter with friends. The champagne cocktails paired with chilli salt squid, steak tartare and Spanish olives is just divine. The salmon fishcakes are also incredible and to be honest Ive eaten so many I'm surprised I didn't turn into one of their delicious fishcakes myself! The food, even the bar food snacks, are all exquisitely cooked and exceed expectation. Surprisingly I've not had a formal sit down meal in their restaurant before, in my mind it hasn't ever seemed the place for that, I much prefer snacking by the bar as it suits that laid back feel. And besides, just to get a table in the restaurant seems quite an act of skill! The bar area does get incredibly busy, I always found the best approach was to act like a German with a sunbed and get in there early and don't move! The Botanist has been a venue of choice for many a breakfast though! I have yet to find a breakfast to beat it. I also have never spent more money at a breakfast before but thats another matter. I viewed it as one of life's luxuries that needed to be indulged. The scrambled eggs with Scottish smoked salmon and toasted English muffin are to die for! This followed by the fresh fruit platter and one of their wonderful fruit smoothies or milkshakes made it into a great morning!Yes this place gets busy, and yes maybe some people come here to be seen, but really, try to get over that and enjoy good food and fine drinks!

I chose to take my dad here for Fathers Day as it has beautiful views over one of his favourite bays and he loves good food. I have been to Mark Hix's restaurants in London before and loved the food and the atmosphere so felt sure this wouldn't disappoint. And yes the food was delicious. We started with wonderful starters, mine was a very tasty seafood cocktail. One of the best I have have ever eaten to be precise. We then both ordered fish (lemon sole and bream) which were cooked to our liking with a choice of different accompaniments. All very tasty, along with a great bottle of wine. The desserts were also up to scratch and have a very fresh fruity feel to them. I had the lemon and ginger nut cheesecake, but was also tempted by the buttermilk pudding with blood oranges.Im sure the restaurant is busier on a sunny afternoon, it was actually fairly quiet when we were dining so the atmosphere did leave a little to be desired. However, as previous reviewers have noted, service is indeed lacking. After paying the bill in cash they were a reluctant to collect the money leaving me in that awkward position of being left sat there and almost expected to leave the remaining £15 odd as a tip! Well after that service I wasn't prepared to be quite the generous! I also felt they were fairly slow in topping up our glasses of wine during the meal, leaving me to keep bending behind me and doing the honours myself. Slightly embarrassing especially for a special occasion and whilst I'd been raving about the Hix restaurants prior to the meal.Overall I think this restaurant could be a fabulous little place if they keep up the delicious food but work on the service too! After all it has views to die for and an area that needs a great fish and oyster restaurant!

When I was invited to China Tang with a good friend of mine I was initially reluctant, Im not a huge fan of Chinese food but I was assured this was as good as it gets.I must say I was very pleasantly surprised, the food was delicious. It was much lighter (although still filling) and the flavours were clean and fresh. We shared a selection of dishes, including ‘stir fried minced pigeon wrapped in lettuce’ which was surprisingly very good. The peking duck pancakes were the best I have ever tasted and the pork belly in the clay pot were wonderful!By no means is this place value for money but it was a lovely evening with delicious food. A good place to come with friends!

Mews of Mayfair is the perfect place to go for a cocktail if its the sunny and you can secure a table outside in the delightfully quiet and tucked away Lancashire Court. I love this area alone as you would never know you are so near the hustle and bustle.I usually come here on those rare balmy summers evenings we have and devour an ‘English Summer Garden’ which is just delicious. I have also had lunch here on occasion and found the food to be delicious, they do some lovely salads and fish dishes.A great place to come in the summer to feel like you aren't in London at all!

The Orange is a new favourite of mine! I have been here several times before for glasses of wine with the girls but never before for food. That is until I was in the area with a friend feeling suddenly peckish. Being fairly early they managed to seat us immediately. We found the service to be polite, friendly and efficient. The food was delicious, I ordered the grilled salmon with broad beans, peas and bacon with horseradish sauce. It was divine and the flavours worked wonderfully together. The salmon was perfectly cooked and I can report its one of the tastiest meals I have had in a long time. My fellow diner was also thoroughly impressed and the phrase ‘we have to come here again’ did pop up once or twice. We shared the dessert of treacle pudding, rhubarb compote and rhubarb ice cream and it was delicious. All the food has a very rustic homemade feel to it and the ice cream especially tasted like the lovely clotted cream type that the west country (my second home) is famous for!Unusually for myself, I didn't order wine however having had a quick peek at the wine list I could see a tempting array of different wines all at reasonable prices. The restaurant became busier and the atmosphere more bustling as the evening drew in, I can see this would be a fabulous place for after work drinks and a bite to eat.Overall I would say this is great food, in a great place without being too purse draining!

I came here recently for the first time with a friend of mine on a quiet Monday evening. We were greeted by very friendly staff and immediately ushered through to our table. The restaurant has a very nice, modern decor in keeping with the Intercontinental. The food here we later discovered, is delicious and the portions are very generous! Our meal began with some lovely bruschetta and warm foccacia rosemary bread which left me wondering whether I would need a starter at all! However, I erred on the side of caution and went ahead and ordered the pan fried diver scallops on a bed of lentils which were divine! This was followed by the wood roasted monkfish wrapped in prosciutto which again, was very tasty and full of flavour. The wood roasting added a delicious smoky flavour, and I did notice that this is something featured a few times on the menu, so well worth a go in my mind. It also went excellently with the White Burgundy we ordered! My friend ordered the minestrone soup to start which looked, and apparently was, delicious, as was the veal chop which was very generously sized and very tender and juicy. We shared the zucchini fritti on the side which were very tasty but could maybe have done with being a bit hotter. Not having any room left for dessert we settled at finishing the wine and I had a gorgeous liquer coffee.Overall a very good evening was had! It wasn't the resturants busiest evening I'm sure, so the atmosphere was probably quieter than usual but I do believe if you're with good company that really doesn't matter so much. I hope to be returning very soon!

I love this place for a cosy lunch and glass of wine! It feels like good country fare in the middle of Belgravia! When I'm craving good honest food without the steep price tag I come here. The staff are polite and attentive and the food is wonderful and good value for money. The seared scallops with artichokes and wild mushrooms proved to be a wonderful starter on my last visit to The Pantechnicon. Very tasty and a good sized portion. The pan fried sea bream was spot on and had just the right melt in your mouth texture, the lobster sauce complimented this perfectly. I have heard very good things from friends regarding their juicy steaks here as well as the delicious pork loin with true country style crackling. The desserts I have also been told are lovely.Overall a fantastic place to come with friends for lunch or dinner!

Hmmm…Nozomi. I think this place could be great if it tried harder, or maybe tried less. Its obvious as soon as you step into the place that people come here to be seen rather than for the quality of the food! The staff seem to be in a disorganised array of chaos and my friend and I had to wait what seemed like an eternity for our pre booked table to become available. We were ordering drinks at the bar and seemed to be surrounded by others who were also waiting for a table mixed in with those just there for a drink or three. We were soon brought to our table at almost 10pm by which point I felt it was a little too late to overly indulge! The staff were not apologetic about this. When ordering I found it slightly frustrating that the waiter kept ‘recommending’ dishes in such a way that I felt forced to have what he was pressing on me to order. I can only assume that this hints at a disorganised kitchen and certain items on the menu running out or being completely unavailable. We had the Wagyu beef as one of the dishes which was very tasty and also the black cod, again tasty but I felt uneasy at eating fish that I could barely see (due to the very dim lighting) that didn't taste reassuringly hot.Overall a pretentious place with below standard food. I won't be returning.

What a wonderful place for lunch! I have been here several times on business lunches and enjoyed it every time. The staff are charming, friendly and helpful. The food is consistently good and the service is prompt and polite. Yes there is a corporate air to the place at lunchtimes and a slight feel of a gentleman's club but for a business lunch thats perfect in my opinion. The smoked salmon starter is just divine with the unusual twist of zesty grapefruit and ginger. The gilled scallops are also perfectly cooked and full of flavour. The various main courses I have tried have all been great, from the black tiger prawn curry with jasmine rice to the linguine mare.Overall I would recommend this place for a great business lunch!

This place is just outstanding! The location of the restaurant is just lovely, tucked away in a quiet courtyard off Motcomb Street, there is always a bustling lively atmosphere here, whether its at lunch or dinner. And the food is incredible, this is by no means your average Indian restaurant, this place fuzes flavours and tastes together like never before.I was fortunate enough to have gone with friends the first time who had been before and I effectively let them recommend a variety of dishes for us to share together. All of the foods presented to us were packed full of flavour and surprisingly light. The tandoori prawns were fantastic, as were the oysters. Everything we had was fantastic and I am feeling the need to go back very soon to refresh my memory!

The food at The Palm is just fantastic! Other reviewers who have mentioned the lack of atmosphere and poor decor are not wrong, but the food really makes up for this. The lobster is outstanding, perfectly cooked and comes with a beautiful garlic butter sauce for dipping. This goes down a treat with a few glasses of champagne. I have also tried the perfectly tender mouth watering steak here as well as the juicy lamb cutlets, all go very well with the delicious creamed spinach.Come here hungry as the portions are very generous! Don't be put off by the decor, this place is about the food and having a great time. The staff are always polite, very helpful and attentive.

There can be no doubt about it, this is a culinary journey worth trying! More of a dining experience than just a meal out, this is the place to devote a whole evening to.The Lecture Room is beautiful, with ornate gold walls, very high ceilings and a Moroccan/French feel. This apparently was Christian Dior's home before it became Sketch and you can see that it is truly a stunning building with his influence showing. The menu intially appears slightly confusing, however, the very attentive waiter will talk you through the menu and advise you. It essentially consists of many mini dishes making up each course. These are to be savoured slowly as each taste complements the other. For example I had Langoustine 5 ways for my starter and this was made up of 5 gorgeous dishes of langoustine cooked in varying ways. There are amuse bouche between the courses which again, are delicious. There is amazing variety of flavours, textures and colours within each dish. I am very daring with what I eat and would say that almost nothing is off limitis to me (within reason!) but if you are less daring then maybe you would not enjoy this experience as much as I did. It really is a phenomenal experience and I had sampled flavours there that my palette had never before experienced, all complimented by a delicious Hungarian…yes Hungarian…wine chosen by the sommelier. This is a fabulous experience that I shall repeat again soon I hope!

I went here with a girlfriend recently and it was wonderful…so delicious, so luxurious, so Parisian! The macaroons are little bites of sublime deliciousness that just melt in your mouth. We ordered a variety of wonderful flavours, from gorgeous pistachio, to zesty lemon to moreish vanilla…We had our earl grey tea in very elegant china cups and felt it added a nice touch to our day of shopping.Laduree…I shall be back soon for more!

I am officially once again a fan of Cecconis. I came here a couple of months ago and had a rare disappointing experience when dining with a group of friends, my fish was rather bland and the vegetables were not hot enough. However, after being invited here for lunch with a friend a week ago I decided to try it again and I am pleased to say I am once again charmed.I had the delicious bresaola to start and the pan fried halibut was sublime. This was accompanied by the predictable but always great, glass of Gavi. My friend was raving about his spaghetti lobster so much so I think this shall be my next pick too! Although having said that, the pappardelle with wild boar ragu that the gentleman on the next table ordered also looked wonderful…decisions, decisions…Cecconis has a wonderful atmosphere and it is a great place to people watch and drink wine chatting as you while away an afternoon or evening. The crowd is varied and it doesn't feel pretentious in any way. The staff are friendly, attentive and always helpful.Overall a great place for lunch or dinner. I have also heard it does a fabulous breakfast too!

I have been here many times and confess as it was just around the corner I used to come here with my girlfriends when I didn't want to cook dinner. The food is delicious and although the menu doesn't change often it is always reliable and the steak is beautiful and tender. I am not the first person to go straight for the meaty option on a menu but the steak ordered by a friend of mine once looked so tempting that I ordered it the next time and didn't regret it. Of course, with steak comes chips and their special triple cooked chips are just divine. One particular girlfriend has said she now misses them all the way from the other side of the world! The manager and rest of the staff are lovely and always very accommodating and friendly. We would often turn up at the last minute and they would make a real effort to fit us in.So if you are in the mood for comfort food then I can recommend this place!
