Plateau (4th Floor, Canada Place, London, London, E14 5ER)

Noisy with slow service and attitude. Don't bother.

The Ivy (1-5 West Street, London, London, WC2H 9NQ)

The Ivy has a nice dining room in a great location in Covent Garden. You do feel an air of something special when you arrive and there were a couple of B list celebs in attendance. The menu features British standards such as fish and chips and burgers and they are fine, but not exceptional. The service was a little clumsy, but without attitude. The doorman was friendly and helpful, but sadly as we were leaving, the paparazzi outside failed to recognise us. An average night at the Ivy all round.

Boheme Kitchen & Bar (19-21 Old Compton Street, London, W1D 5JJ)

The Apple Martini here is worth the trip into town alone. Service is great and grabbing a table by the window was the perfect position to watch the world go by on a sunny Saturday afternoon.

Moro (34-36 Exmouth Market, London, EC1R 4QE)

The food at Moro is amazing. We had a fish dish and steak and both were to die for. Very different, but amazing flavours. We shared a rose petal ice cream which has to be one of the best desserts I've ever had. The cocktails here are fab as well, as is the wine list. We found the service prompt and friendly and the great thing about Moro is that it is surrounded by half a dozen bars to continue your evening in. Definitely worth a visit.

Galvin at Windows (bar) (London Hilton, 22 Park Lane, London, London, W1K 1BE)

The views are amazing and the drinks much better than the London Eye. Start you Friday off here with a cocktail before sunset. Great for friends visiting from overseas.

Mandarin Bar at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel (Mandarin Oriental Hotel, 66 Knightsbridge, London, SW1X 7LA)

The bar at the Mandarin never disappoints and the Cosmopolitans here are to die for. Seriously sized and seriously strong. Service is perfect and it is always a glamorous crowd, shame about the occasional lady of the night, but they are so common in London's 5 star hotels these days, you almost expect to see them there. Definitely recommended as the best bar in Knightsbridge.

The Blue Bar at The Berkeley Hotel (The Berkeley Hotel, Wilton Place, London, London, SW1X 7RL)

The service was friendly and prompt and the cocktails were just what we needed to take the edge off a crazy week, but the atmosphere, sadly, was a bit tired. I can see that in its hey day Madonna might have stopped by, but that ship has long since sailed. Sadly we thought the Blue Bar was past it's prime and to be frank, a little rough around the edges. The decor looks tired and stained, and with gum under my chair it all started to feel a bit dirty. There are nicer hotel bars in the area, so the Blue Bar really needs to take it up a notch if we are to come back.

San Lorenzo (22 Beauchamp Place, London, London, SW3 1NH)

This was okay, and if we had no expectations it might have been good. But really with all the celeb attention we expected the dining room, the food and the service to be top notch and it wasn't. There wasn't anything to complain about – other than a £5 cover charge added to the bill – whatever for we don't know as I didn't see a disco, but there wasn't anything to rave about either.
Overall an average, night out.
I fear San Lorenzo, like it's dining room, was was something special 20 years ago, but not today.

Wapping Food (Wapping Hydraulic Power Station, Wapping Wall, London, E1W 3SG)

A fabulous place to take friends and family for lunch or dinner. An amazing space with a real energy. Only let down is their weekend breakfast, which feels a bit laboured by the artistic staff.

The Narrow (44 Narrow Street, London, E14 8DP)

View is great, food is boring and the service is a disaster. Drinks are overpriced and there are better pubs on the river less than 5 mins aways. Overhyped and over it.

Bleeding Heart (Bleeding Heart Yard, London, London, EC1N 8SJ)

Just go, it is fabulous, intimate, amazing food and service and the cheese trolley is to die for. We have been going for years, on special occasions and it is always the perfect night out.

La Figa (The Mosaic Building, 45 Narrow Street, London, London, E14 8DN)

This is a very noisy restaurant that seems to focus on the quantity of portion size rather than quality. It's all very quick, impersonal and tasteless. Plus you have to walk through the wall of smokers standing outside. It's cheap, and if that's what you are looking for, why not bring the whole family – everyone else does.
