Cah Chi (394 Garratt Lane, London, SW18 4HP) Excellent can't rate it better. Not ever having had Korean food we were worried we may order wrong or leave hungry so we decided to go for the set menu to show us what the different dishes were. From arrival to finish the staff welcomed every person through the front door and said good bye to each guest with a big smile. Complimentary taster were given and explained to us, the BBQ was great fun and we had our own lady cooking for us. BYO is great for wines as it means you can go there more often to actually eat. We were there in a Saturday at 6:30pm and they were 75% full. Very popular local. We had read many reviews and all boasted how great the service was. personal touch, locals were welcomed by their names, just was lovely we will be firm regulars. It is a small restaurant so I think could get noisy, we will keep going early as it was nice and relaxing.

Salt Yard (54 Goodge Street, London, W1T 4NA) I always go to Salt yard when my best friend is in town. It is our treat. we get sat in a corner, order many many plates, lots of bubbles and eat till we want to pop. Signature dishes for me is the pork belly, courgette flowers, croquets, wow I could go on and on… finish with some pedro Ximenez and churros…yummy! It is always good, service is attentive but not intrusive. I love it and will be back. price wise, for my pocket it is a treat, so I will be seeing them on my birthday!

The Grand Union Wandsworth (96 Wandsworth High Street, London, London, SW18 4LB) Wolf in Sheeps clothing, I went to the Grand Union about 7 weeks ago for a friends birthday outside in their garden. Huge improvement since the Kings Arms, decor great, garden amazing i was already thinking about my birthday party and wishing it was in a hot month. My friends ordered food and it looked great. SO when my partner and I decided to go watch a movie about 2 weeks ago and were looking for a bite to eat before, we said lets go to the Grand Union. Most of the tabes were full when we got there, they didnt have the Redordial cider I wanted nor Mageners so ended up with kopperberg. The bar lady although not on purpose knocked my partners beer over onto him so he smelled like a bewery. I calmed him down as it was a mistake, we orderd our food and really it was aweful. I had been on a carb free diet untl that day so was looking so forward to sinking my teeth into that burger bun which says baked daily on the menu. I had the chicken and camenbert burger, the bun was so stale it shattered, wasnt even toasted, I did not eat my burger bun and was so upset as I might as well ordred their bunless burgers, chips, burnt, all broken looked like Mcdonalds chips but Mcdonalds actually are way better. My partners burger was cooked to death that when he cut through the patty it shot off his plate it was so hard. I almost felt like telling the table next to us who were ordering burgers not too. As its a pay as you go system there, you have already paid for food. It was such a pity as I was hoping to have my party there but definitaly not with what was coming out of that kitchen. £32 for a beer, burger and chips for 2 that really left us with wishing we had just gone to Mcdonalds.

Bumpkin (102 Old Brompton Road, London, London, SW7 3RD) This review has been long overdue as I recently went on holiday, but since I did a raving review about the Notting Hill branch it seems fit to give South Kensington what is due to it. I am a regular at Notting Hill so South Kensington is a new area to me, never go out there. It seemed to be very busy from early and lots of famlies. Its the newer addition to the Bumpkin brand and seems “newer”. Diverse dishes and insisting on seasonal fruit and veg is why I love Bumpkin. They also have an open kitchen and a nice big bar area as you walk in so you can have a drink before or after dinner if you like. This time round we only had a main and dessert. The trout with heritage potatoes was beautiful. I have never had heritage potatoes before but these were purple, lovely looking on the plate. My partner had the sausage and mash which I tasted and it was delicious. Looked like a lollipop on a stick to keep it from unravelling, gravy was yummy( i may have that next time). Chocolate cake again as it is to die for and we shared it. Service as usual was friendly and I saw some familiar faces that cross work at the Notting Hill one which is nice to see. Bathrooms are lovely and not that I drink wine but I do drink bubbly, they had introduced a new Wine list which to me seemed quite extensive with British bubbly! How do I choose which Bumpkin now?

Wallace & Co (146 Upper Richmond Road, London, London, SW15 2SW) A while back we wenty for brunch at Wallace & Co, lovely setting with a nice big atrium feel, big windows perfect for a wintery day as it was very light but warm inside. We got there at 11am and even though they were not really busy it seemed the staff were barely managing to get to everyone. We waited 15min before someone came to take our order, once that had been done things moved a bit quicker and we noticed some more staff and another manger had arrived so from there onwards I think it was fine. But they clearly didn't have a full staff before 11am. I had the Eggs Benedict and my other half had as usual the full english brekfast. We seem to have the same thing everytime we go out, food was good -bacon was lovely. I was still a bit peckish after my benedict where at another establishment ( Bill's) I frequent am never left not full. Bills though in defence is a bigger operation and can't really compare too much. We will go back as it is local too us but I think in the current market you need to be wow, not just rolling along.

Bill's Produce Store (St Martin's Courtyard, 12 Upper St Martin's Lane, London, WC2E 9AB) Went to Bill's for my other halfs birthday this past weekend. We love the Brighton Bill's so thought we would take a tour into the city and visit Bill's Covent Garden and see if the magic is there too. We were not dissappointed at all, have to say I felt like I was cheating on Brighton as we love it so but Covent Graden works well. As you can expect everything looks like Bill's should look. Colourful, lots of blackboards, relaxed waiters and the “worn look” tables and chairs. They have a nice outside area yet it was all shaded in the morning so it seems it may be quite sunny possibly in the afternoon. We had planned on lunch but ended up having breakfast as we got their earlier. Full english brekki and Eggs benedict with th eaddition of bubble and squeak was lovely as usual. To be honest I wasnt a fan of the bubble and squeak but it was the first time I have had it so I think it was more a preference rather than it not being nice. My other half loved his!. I had a raspberry, mango and something juice it was lovely, way way to large with a breakfast. Pity they didnt seat people upstairs as it is really nice up there and has an open kitchen which I like, will have to go back when they are busy enough to use both levels. Bill's as usual will be seeing us again.

Bumpkin (209 Westbourne Park Road, London, London, W11 1EA) Bumpkin has recently had a small revamp and looks clean, fresh and inviting. We were given the new Spring menu and I must say it had fabulous dishes on it. Sharing boards and pudding platters a nice touch if your table wants to sample a few things. Our waiter was lovely, I have been to Bumpkin before and find the service personal and prompt which is something I like. I really like the decor and love the wall paper, rustic feel. Bumpkin do excellent cocktails. I had the cheese souffle which was soft and delicious and then the pollock in the bag, beautiful and the aroma was to die for. Looking forward to my next outing and thumbs up to Bumpkin who are part of the Sustainable Restaurant Association and use Pollock instead of cod.
