Purnell's (55 Cornwall Street, Birmingham, West Midlands, B3 2DH)

This is my favourite restaurant ever. I love the layout, where you're intimate, but never too close to another table. We like to eat here on special occasions. The food is always well presented and it is unusual with its Brummie sense of humour and mix of ingredients, especially some of the amuse bouches. The homemade bread is delicious. The staff are excellent, knowlegeable and attentive. Decent wine list. I hope Glyn Purnell gets back his Michelin star. He thoroughly deserves it. Highly recommended.

L'Escargot (48 Greek Street, London, W1D 4EF)

Ate here on Saturday evening with my husband. We chose from the a la carte menu in the ground floor restaurant. The restaurant was busy, but the service was cheerful and attentive. The artwork by Miro and Chagall was much appreciated. We really enjoyed our dinner consisting of foie gras and tuna to start with and then the lamb and pork for main course. The food was well presented and delicious. We will definitely eat here again. Highly recommended.
