La Mancha (32 Putney High Street, London, SW15 1SQ) The place looks awful, both on the outside and on the inside, so I don't know how it manages to get people through the door. But once through the door the food is much better than expected. Perfect for a quick but nice pre- or post-movie meal; a couple of glasses of wine or sherry (very good selection of sherries but quite pricy) and some tapas. Service is fast and efficient, especially if you sit at the bar. We prefer to sit at the bar as the back gets a little cantine like; the decor is quite stale and the lights slightly too bright. The tapas are on the traditional side, so little scope to be adventurous, but on the other hand everything is well-cooked and really tasty. The decor and the menu could do with a bit of modernization, but then again what they have seems to work so why change it?
