London’s most comprehensive guide to restaurants and bars
Very good as usual, especially at lunch time. Perhaps the only slight issue was the number of large tables with noisy diners, Keeping these larger tables a distance from others would be a good idea.

Not as good as a decade ago and now very much playing to the visitor to London, in contrast to when it seemed to be mostly frequented by well heeled locals.
Al Duca remains a very good restaurant in a convenient Central London location. We have been eating here for over ten years but no so much recently since we moved away from the immediate area but I'm glad to say that standards remain high and the prices quite reasonable.
Three recent visits have all been very good, an excellent Chinese restaurant if in a somewhat tricky place to get to and park.
Dinnerat for four at The Grill in August 2011 was very good if a little expensive for what it was however. On the basis of this experience we booked dinner for three at 7pm on Christmas Day and were sent a sample standard Grill menu but were assured that the Christmas Day menu would contain additional festive choice. To double check I personally visited The Grill the evening of December 10th and the suited gentleman claiming to be the restaurant manager assured me that indeed there would be turkey and other festive foods on the menu.On arriving at 6.30pm for pre dinner drinks on Christmas Day we took seats in the bar adjacent to a couple of hotel guests who were having a rather heated discussion with the restaurant manager as there was only a standard menu on offer and not the promised Christmas Day additional choices; clearly we had both being given the same false information when booking. After this disappointment and not the slightest apology from the po-faced restaurant manager (who I had spoken to on December 10th) there were only 15 covers in the Grill and zero atmosphere with the staff clearly not wanting to be there. An experience not to be repeated.
The quality of food and service has declined noticably in 2011. On two recent visits both my wife and I who would consider ourselves as regulars over the last decade or more, noticed a marked deterioration in both the cooking and professionalism of service. This suggested staff being hired in for the evening. Whilst superficially things appeared good Caprice has slipped badly from the smooth highs of the past but the small and welcoming atmosphere, assisted by the regular pianist remains. A lunchtime visit in November was slightly better from a service perspective but the food remained mediocre at best.
