Reply to “Square, Marcus Waring or Cinnamon Club ?” (in Recommend me a restaurant or a bar)

Glad to see we're on the same page ! I ended up with the Square…awesome. The boss was so impressed he's taking his wife there again this week ! And blames me for the hole in his pocket. More

Thread “Square, Marcus Waring or Cinnamon Club ?” (in Recommend me a restaurant or a bar)

The boss wants to take myself and my husband out to dinner. No budget ! The three places I'm contemplating are the Square, Marcus Waring or the Cinnamon Club. Each have a wicked sounding tasting menu (there's that no budget !) but I can't decide which one to go to. Any suggestions or alternatives ? I don't want to go to Ramsay at Hospital Rd, only because I think he's stretching himself to far. And, I'll probably never get a table their either. More

Reply to “Looking for a kooky Christmas party venue” (in Venues & Events talk )

Cabinet War rooms – we had our party there last year, the venue is great. The downside is the food, if you could get a different caterer than the one they usually use it would be a great venue, or do what we did and get the champagne flowing far too freely so everyone forgets about the food. We had approx 60 people, room could have held more.

I also looked at the Institute of Contemporary Arts, as another different venue, holds up to 90.

My top one that I've always wanted to book is the London Dungeon, but you need over 75 to book the entire venue.

Have also used the Salvador Dali gallery, which is pretty cool, think we had approx 150 for that. More

Reply to “Turn Times… greed or necessity?” (in Restaurant & bar talk)

Depends on the sort of restaurant you go to. I finally booked a table at the Greenhouse, and I can tell you if they tried to turf me in 2 hours out after paying that sort of money, I'd be pretty cranky. However, if we're talking about the local tapas bar down the road from my house, which is a bargain, then I have no problem whatsoever with a time limit being imposed. It would however, be polite of them to tell you at the time of booking. More

Reply to “Chef's tables” (in Recommend me a restaurant or a bar)

I booked the chef's table at the Only Running Footman, and if you're looking for something cheaper than Maze, I would highly recommend it, unless, you have anyone in the group who can't make it up 3 flights of stairs. Only held about 12 people though. Have previously booked La Cave (part of Hush) which was also good – best thing being that as all the bottles of wine are sold at retail price. The staff were great and set up some tables outside for us to have champagne and canapes first too. More
