I am quite partial to a mid week evening out, especially if it's a birthday – and especially if it's your girl friends 30th birthday! We haven't been to the Paradise before, but we came on a recommendation from a good friend. I didn't want to go overboard in a flashy west restaurant – but this place was spot on. The décor was pretty decadent, and my girlfriend loved it. It's quirky and not off putting or garish. We received a warm welcome and had cocktails at the bar as we were waiting for our table. I am something of a cocktail buff, but these guys were spot on and were able to talk to us whilst making them and I was impressed that they asked how I liked my Old Fashioned. Even though it was just the 2 of us, and the restaurant was busy- we were not ignored and have very attentive service. The waiter we had has quite a character and was happy to answer all menu queries. The food was great – and there were 2 very clean plates at the end. I definitely recommend the Oysters and the Sirloin steak! My girl friend was a huge fan of the Chocolate Espresso martini's … a new favourite. I would like to thanks the staff of The Paradise for making our evening a huge success and saving me from the dog house! James
