Hasn’t rated any restaurants this year.

Langan's Brasserie (Stratton Street, London, London, W1J 8LB)

I walked out of the restaurant relieved that the worst culinary experience of my life was over but also incredibly angry that I had been robbed for the privilege of finding out how bad the London restaurant scene could get. I appreciate the place has a history and was somewhat interested to be a part of it but the menu was historic, the food moreso. The menu was boring and what turned up on the plate was not only boring but did not even taste fresh. The most disappointing meal I have had in London. I will never be going back even if others are paying.

Quaglino's (16 Bury Street, London, SW1Y 6AJ)

What a disappointment. I last came here 10 years ago and had a very fond memory. It is now a shadow of its former self. The food is average – a sort of upmarket Strada. I started with the goats cheese tart – one of the recommended options – but it was a quiche with which M&S would have done better. The steak I had as a main was passable but at £30 I would have expected something more than a slab of meat and some tired leaves. The rest of my party had similarly disappointing experiences. The service was abysmal – slow and disinterested. A great room but let down by the kitchen and the staff. Oh and why the need to have a loud band in an echoey space? We couldn't hear ourselves think although at least it took our minds off the cuisine…
