Le Gavroche (43 Upper Brook Street, London, London, W1K 7QR) I had the special lunch on the 5th March, excellent value at £48. I thought that the service was superb. As a business woman eating alone, as my client could not make lunch, I was treated with the upmost courtsey and made to feel very comfortable. The canapes were a bit so-so, possibly just out of the fridge? However the chicken with the delicate small truffles amuse bouche was superb. The mackrel was so fresh as to leap out the plate! Not so keen on the lamb, it may be a woman thing but it was ringed with fat and felt more like a canteen stew. I wanted to throw myself in front of the cheese trolley to stop it going away as it was that good and as I write this review, I am still nibbling on the petit fours which they kindly boxed up for me. Wonderful buzy atmosphere at lunch time but never felt I was being hurried to leave.
