Dinner by Heston Blumenthal at Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park (Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, 66 Knightsbridge, London, London, SW1X 7LA)

after much anticipation, i manage to go there for lunch with a couple of mate. what a place! looks amazing, kitchen set up, restaurant view etc.. just great. The rest however wasn't always up to top standard. the service efficient but not fantastic. food was overall good but a few deatils like the slow cook rib @ £28 was tiny and a touch fatty, the garnish served with it was over glazed and the sauce too salty. For pudding, I had the pineapple with cake, the pinaapple was a touch over caramelized (rotisserie for too long) we also had a lemon pudding which did not hit the spot (pastry was dry). i will try it again as i think this might just still be teething problems. would recommend to anyone, great view, great setting food will get better I'm sure.

Coq d'Argent (1 Poultry, London, London, EC2R 8EJ)

couldn't quite work out why the reviews where so varied, from what I experience last week it is just a amazing place to wine and dine (not cheap). my wife and I went their for our wedding anniversary last week, we just did not know what to choose as we both wanted about every single dish on the menu, service was good maybe a bit to formal, lacking in warmth, but the food oh! the food! the menu is very french but all the dishes seem to have a twist to it. We just love every single mouthful of it, from the amazing foie gras terrine (probably the best in london) followed by halibut “grenobloise” (yammmy) the dessert were simply the best ever.
will be back again soon and again in the summer as I have heard they have amazing terraces.
