Anglesea Arms (35 Wingate Road, London, W6 0UR) We have been meaning to go to the Anglesea Arms for ages, but the ‘no booking policy’ has stopped us, there is nothing worse than trekking to a restaurant and then you have to wait for ages to get a table, when I have to eat I have to eat, I do not want to wait. For some reason I thought today might be a good day, with the credit crunch and the sales starting and every one stuffed after Christmas. What a good guess. We turned up at 2.30 on Sunday the 28th of Dec 08, found parking outside and the restaurant was half full. Things were looking good. We obviously missed the lunch time rush. We were seated at a great table, facing the menu written on a blackboard in front of us. We were immediately attended to, and were offered sparkling water or tap water. We ordered 2 glasses of delicious Sauvignon Blanc. The menu is short and detailed and well explained. The starters were tasty, not too big, and the bread was perfect. My husband chose the roast lamb, which looked and tasted great and I had the red mullet with bouillabaisse which was so tasty and sweet and filling, absolutely perfect. We were tempted by the amazing puddings on offer, a stunning poached pear in red wine was served at the table next to me, but we were too full and left very content. The staff were great and very passionate and informed about everything we asked. Great place, and it sounds that they may be taking bookings from January 2009, fabulous news.
