Went for a Sunday lunch here. First impressions were from the outside – we would have walked past but having read that it had been recently refurbished thought that we would take a look. We had roast lunch of beef and lamb which was excellent, both beef and lamb were tender and the roast potatoes and veg perfectly cooked and it came steaming hot. We had one starter of potted crab which was just ok, that came slightly warm which we thought unusual and tasted more of butter than crab. The Wine selection and price was very good and we had a very good bottle of claret. All in all a great sunday lunch, busy, good service, good atmosphere would return again and recommend it. The decor is rather eclectic but the staff and buzzy atmosphere made up for this. Have eaten in the Maynard and the food here is 100% better if a little more expensive.
