Byron Upper Street (341 Upper Street, London, London, WC2E 7BN)

Damn good burgers. Maybe a bit smaller that others, but very good.

I love the way Byron design their spaces, and the atmosphere in them.

Take you pick with the burgers.. They're all great!

Banana Tree Angel (412-416 St John Street, London, London, EC1V 4NJ)

Not a bad little place. I like the layout and atmosphere, but the food doesn't sway me over other places of similar ilk.

There are quite a lot of places around the area that do similar food, but like the others, they just don't have that ‘wow factor’ to make you salivate and dream of returning…

Jamie's Italian Angel (403 St John Street, London, EC1V 4AB)

I feel they might be rolling these out too fast, but I do think it's a good edition to Mr Oliver's burgeoning empire.

The food is very good, the staff are excellent, and they are generally nice spaces to spend some time in with their multi-roomed diner/warehouse feel.

I like the spaciousness, but this one might be too spacious at the moment, as it was only half-full at lunch-time when I was in.

I had a fish stew which was fantastic, and my friend had the burger, which was enormous – definitely got his money's worth.

Well worth going to if you haven't been.

Pho Clerkenwell (86 St John Street, London, London, EC1M 4EH)

So, as I walk into Pho with a friend who raved about it and I hear The Stone Roses being played, and immediately thought, ‘This place is cool!’

It's a tiny venue really. The tables are all close together, and the staff are flitting round with bowls and plates of delicious food, but it gives it this really vibrant, warm and energetic atmosphere. Aided by some very good music being played.

The atmosphere represents the food that is served. Fresh, vibrant, light and explosive dishes that are bursting with a million flavours.

We had the summer rolls (fresh ones, not fried), bun noodles (noodles with salad, herbs, a bit of stir-fried topping served with this amazing sauce that you pour over) and some fantastic fresh juice. Everything was perfect.

Great staff made the experience even more enjoyable. Highly recommended.
