Vinoteca (7 St John Street, London, EC1M 4AA)

Wonderful little place. The wine selection is fantastic, and they do some lovely food too. And for what you get, this is probably the best place in London to take a few wines, or a box, home with you. The prices are more than reasonable, and their is no such thing as a bad wine here. An absolute must for vinophiles.

Gaucho Smithfield (93a Charterhouse Street, London, EC1M 6HL)

The food here really is fantastic, but the atmosphere does take away from it a bit for me. You probably won't find a better steak in London, and I'm sure that some absolutely love the atmosphere here, but I enjoy a more relaxed place.

The Hat & Tun (3 Hatton Wall, London, EC1N 8HX)

This is my favourite place for an after dinner drink and nibble. It is such a lovely pub, and not as hectic as the rest of the places in the Clerkenwell area, being just off the beaten track. They have some fantastic whiskeys and beers here. Well worth a visit.

The Empress of India (130 Lauriston Road, London, London, E9 7LH)

I hadn't been here before the other night when some of my friends took me for my birthday, and we had the most wonderful evening. This really is a fantastic bar and restaurant. The food was all cooked to perfection, and complimented with some delicious wines. Another thing was that the staff were all so attentive and genuinely nice, which can be a bit of a rarity in London at times. I really can't remember the last time I enjoyed being out for dinner so much. I can't wait to go back!
