Maggie Jones's (6 Old Court Place, London, London, W8 4PL) Maggie Jones's is a terrible restaurant. The decor and staff are passable if you want to eat in a pastiche of a sixties restaurant. The food, however, is shocking in both its quality and price. I really felt that I was being ripped off at every moment. My potted shrimps were not in a pot and the dish mainly consisted of loads of toast with a few unseasoned brown shrimps. The saddle of lamb was just shy of £20 and overcooked (it was sent back). To pay this amount for a piece of lamb unadorned on a plate is bad enough but then you have to pay nearly £4 for side dishes which included tinned peas with bacon. Apparently they are special tinned peas!! This means for a main course with two veg you are paying nearly £30. Pudding was hardly worth mentioning. If you feel like paying £70 – £80 per head on a meal why not go to Le Cafe Anglais for a properly cooked and cared for meal and leave this place to the tourists.
