Suksan (7 Park Walk, London, SW10 0AJ)

Sometimes we would want to keep hidden gems for ourselves, because if they are discovered, it will be much harder to get a table easily. Suksan is that type of place. Opened fairly recently in the same spot as a previous Thai restaurant, the food is way above the previous one. Maybe that's why it's still undiscovered.

The decor is nice and has the usual Thai artifacts found in upscale restaurants: carved wood, Thai deities, statues, etc in a contemporary setting, beige and brown. But the real treat is the food. The menu has the traditional dishes, but the quality and freshness of the ingredients and the masterful cooking is what delights. The food strikes a rare balance between flavour and subtlety.

I have been at Suksan 3 or 4 times now and have tried different dishes on the menu, and have not been disappointed. I have been to similar or much more expensive Thai restaurants in London and Suksan better than most. One of the weak point is service can be overwhelmed and slow when it's busy.

Here it is. The secret is out… Enjoy!

La Trompette (5-7 Devonshire Road, London, London, W4 2EU)

Great food in comfortable formal but not stuffy dining room. Very good value for money. Great service. Almost like a hidden gem. Great value for money, much better than many central London restaurants.

Koya (49 Frith Street, London, London, W1D 4SG)

A simple, canteen-like fairly compact japanese noodle restaurant. Great, fresh ingredients, delicate broth, great noodles. It feels like tasting genuine japanese noodle soups. Very lively and busy.

Indian Zing (236 King Street, London, London, W6 0RF)

Very impressed after a first visit. Inventive, subtle food in a nice quite upscale room. Great lively atmosphere on the night I went. Good service. Was tempted but a little anxious to try indian wine and was not disappointed at all. The wine was amazing, very unusual, but perfectly paired with the food. The wine list is carefully and well constructed. I can't wait to go again.

The Cinnamon Club (The Old Westminster Library, 30-32 Great Smith Street, London, London, SW1P 3BU)

Disappointed by the average food. Indian Zing is more impressive. Nice big formal room with high ceiling and great bar with contemporary design downstairs.
