Rasoi Vineet Bhatia (10 Lincoln Street, London, London, SW3 2TS) Premise: indian is not my favourite cousine, but I eat it every so often with gusto. Review Food: good and prepared with care. However there was no “wow” factor, which you would expect given the final bill well in excess of £100 per person. The starters looked better than they tasted (and I tried 6 out of 7 on the menu). Main courses are more interesting, the sea bass probably being the most particular and sophisticated of all. Best dish of the evening was the good old chicken tikka masala, which is not what a restaurant of this caliber should be remembered for. Service: waiters courteous, but did not know well the menu (which is not long at all!) and could not give any convincing recommendations, even when prompted. Atmosphere: very nice decor, the rooms and the tables are dressed with taste. But please get some air conditioning: by the time I had main course, my jacket was off, the sleeves rolled up and the sweat running. Value for money: very low. Particularly in the context of the current economic climate, you should get a lot more for your bucks. I want to re-emphasize that after spending more than £100 per person I should be leaving the restaurant wondering if the kitchen was run by angels – and not with the strong feeling of having overpaid for ordinary food You might have guessed: I will not go back.
