Manicomio (6 Gutter Lane, London, EC2V 8AS)

Light & airy venue but heavyweight prices e.g. £28 for a monkfish & prawn kebab with some rocket – add some potatoes & vegetables & you're looking at close to £40 for an OK but not exceptional main course. Somewhat restricted menu.

Smithfield Tandoori (12 Smithfield Street, London, EC1A 9LA)

More interesting menu than standard curry house. Lamb particularly was excellent quality. Service good. Was pretty full by 9:00pm so noise became a factor given the wooden decor.

The Builders Arms (1 Kensington Court Place, London, W8 5BJ)

Very attractive pub with a good selection of beers. However, wine list is strictly limited & food no more than average pub fare. Also good at running out of things by 6:15pm! If you want a decent pub, you won't be disappointed.
