Today's visit was disappointing. Nice ambiance was spoilt by starter of carpaccio of veal topside, rucola and Parmesan shavings being all rucola (rocket) and not much else. Main of garganelli pasta, Italian sausage, broccoli and fresh chilli was tasty but luke warm to start with and cold by the end. Disappointing as previous visits have been much better.

Beautiful surroundings and castle grounds make this best visited in summer. Food nicely cooked and presented. Good wine list. Dining room can be a bit stuffy (jackets & ties for men in the evening) although service was relaxed and friendly. The fake real fire burning in the fire place is let-down in such an atmospheric building . A nice touch was the ‘tasters’ severed between courses.

Great food – in quirky surroundings. Would definity go again for the superb fish!
