A good place to go for a steak and good value for money considering the location and the going rate for a good steak in London. The service is always good and the food is good too. It is not, in my opinion the best steak in London, but is heading in the right direction. The choice of wines is not bad and a good bottle can be found at a reasonable price. If there is one criticism it is that the dining area can feel a little hollow, a bit like a function room. Apart from that, it is a great place to eat. Will definitely visit again (and have already been a number of times).

This pub has a great selection of beers from across Europe.Although on the small side there is a nice relaxed sitting area upstairs and the food is also reasonable.A fun place to meet with friends for lunch or a beer after work.

This is a favourite breakfast spot. They have just about everything you might want on the menu, and everything is freshly prepared. The food is good and the staff are more than helpful – especially with kids (we tend to meet other families for breakfast and they have high-chairs etc for kids and prepare the food by request). All in all a great addition to Belsize Village.

This is a restaurnat that I used to visit on a regular basis but had fallen out of love with due to horrible service and a generally poor attitude from the staff. However, for the sake of a friend's birthday wish I once again found myself here for dinner along with eight others sitting upstairs. The food and wine were good, and there were many Spanish delights which tasted like being back in Spain. Even the waiters for the evening were nice and helpful with regard to suggestions. By the end of the evening we had all had a very pleasant time. In fact, I would go as far as saying that I was considering coming back again with the overall evening being good value for money. However, my fears and experiences returned in the shape of the manager of the restaurant. We had barely finished paying for our meal when all of the lights upstairs were switched on – from nice casual dining to the feeling of being turfed out of a pub without the chance to finish your drink. Perhaps the restaurant was closing, and we had not noticed? But sadly, when were went downstairs it became apparent that this was not the case with the rest of the restaurant being in dining mode and people still sitting at their tables enjoying their wine. When even the manager is rude to customers it is understandable why the staff can follow. I am not suprised by other reviews, and have no intention of visiting again.

The most recent dinner was a party of 8 for a birthday. We were sat quickly at our table and found the staff to be courteous and tentive. The restaurnat is small but not in a cramped way and was not noisy. The food was a mixture of what one might call hits and misses. That is not to say that the food was bad but rather the restaurant seeks to hit certain heights. The foie gras is superb and definitely one to try. On the flip side, my pheasant was rather tough and was accompanied by a macaroon – which is sweet as a desert let alone a main course. Throw in some sweet vegatable puree and you start to wonder which course you were eating. Desert was very tasty indeed. In additon, they were more than accomodating with dietary requirements for one of our group. At the end of the night it was a case of mixed feelings for all. For the cost, you want a feeling of must come back but on this occassion it was one of seeing the potential without quite getting there.

I have visited this restaurant on quite a few occassions, but always as an invited party. The restaurant is small and rather noisy, even when not full. The food on the menu always looks and tastes good, but as noted in other reviews the portions tend to be on the small side. That being said, my female companions tend not to complain. The dining service is generally good, but on one visit they managed to misplace my coat – it took nearly ten minutes to find it which is a feat in such a small space. All in all not bad, but there are better places to go in London.

Dinner was a Friday night for four people.Despite being busy, we were quickly shown to our table and offered a drink. Despite some bad reviews regarding service we were all pleasantly suprised with this aspect of our evening. A non-alcoholic cocktail for one of the party was no problem despite not being on the menu. The restaurant itself is modern but understated and a good place for a relaxing evening with friends. The food was good with the fig fondant being the overall winner on the night.Although not cheap (three courses and wine) the overall enjoymenmt of the evening made it well worth the money.

Burger and Lobster is a fun concept with only three choices: burger, lobster or lobster sandwich (well brioche). On our visit (a group of four + child) we managed to have one of each on our table. The lobster was well cooked and was fresh. The chips were crisp and crunchy. All approved of their meals, and also enjoyed desert (mouse in a cup).Bloody Marys were made to taste and a great accompaniment to the meal.I must also make a special note to say that the staff were great with the hyper two-year old sat with us. They couldn't do enough to keep her happy be it a plastic bib; extra cutlery; and even looking for a missing toy under the table.A great visit and one to come back to.

Tamarind is a nice restaurant with good food but somehow lacks the wow factor hoped for from a Michelin Starred establishment.Perhaps having grown up in Birmingham, with numerous high quality curry houses to choose from, makes my expectations too high. Do not get me wrong, I did enjoy the meal just didn't feel that it lived up to the hype and cost.

Underwhelming is the best way to describe this restaurant. The atmosphere and the decor are very nice and you sit down expecting to have a nice meal. However, at the end, I came away thinking that the wine (South American) was better than the food. This is an opinion which is shared by a number of friends who have eaten here at other times. The starters were nice but the portions surprisingly small. The steak was okay but certainly not comparable to other establishments in London. Given the price, one would hope for a far better dining experience.

A nice local restaurant serving good quality Greek food. The owners are always friendly and they always try to accommodate people even when they are busy.I tend to order lamb souvla which is always tender and tasty.Although they have certainly gotten busier following their Channel 4 adventure, they still have not forgotten the basics.

In general always a let down no matter how many times I visit. It doesn't seem to matter which level I eat on, I never feel like I have had either an enjoyable meal or value for money. The food is okay but nothing more.Sadly, it is close to where I work and therefore gets used for client lunches as a last resort. There are certainly better restaurants in the area and perhaps that is why getting a table here does not seem to be that hard…

A firm favourite and popular with friends too.The menu is good wholesome British cooking, and it is served in an unpretentious setting. The atmosphere is fun and it is rare to leave without feeling full and happy.Go if you like rustic cooking and comfort foods. Avoid if you are on a diet (or vegetarian).

This restaurant is a local institution in West Hampstead. They produce good food at a good price and in pleasant (although sometimes noisy) surroundings. The staff are generally friendly and certainly good with small kids. The take-away service is also a lifesaver during the week.

A personal favourite in London. The food is always good and the service likewise. Although it is not the cheapest option, I have never come away feeling let down. The understated atmosphere is a pleasant alternative in such a busy city.
