Strattons (4 Ash Close, Swaffham, Norfolk, PE37 7NH)

Lovely setting for Dish restaurant. Tastefully decorated. Good service. Good value for money. Perfect portion sizes. Well thought out menu with a few vegetarian options. Had chicken liver terrine to start, followed by rabbit and crayfish pie (thought the combo worked well as rabbit can be quite bland). Was too full for desert so had a taster cheese board, a filter coffee and a very delicious chocolate brownie. My husband had potted rabbit terrine to start followed by Partridge, the taster cheese board and also a coffee and brownie. All in all it was of a good standard and I will return again soon.

Jolly Sailors (Brancaster Staithe, Norfolk, PE31 8BG)

Been here a few times now. Was initially impressed by the food. Had fish and chips thought the fish was done beautifully.. Sadly the last few times I have been I have noticed a tendency to oversalt the food. The last time was the worst. Reluctant to go back which is a pity as there are only a handful of good pubs in Norfolk and I thought I had found another with the Jolly Sailors.

The White Horse (Main Road, Brancaster Staithe, Norfolk, PE31 8BY)

Views from the conservatory are fantastic. There is an out door area which would be perfect for summer cocktails. Brancaster mussels are gorgeous. Service is a bit hit and miss but it may be due to the fun and friendly young staff. They also do half bottles of good wines which is great if you are driving or prefer drinking lightly at lunch time.

Hoste Arms (The Green, Burnham Market, Norfolk, PE31 8HD)

I am used to London restaurants so this compared favourably. Service was friendly and good for Norfolk standards. Loved the venison and chocolate sauce. Atmosphere is trendy but relaxed.

The Orange Tree (High Street, Thornham, Norfolk, PE36 6LY)

It was Valentines lunch and the service was virtually non existent. I believe they were short staffed. Fortunately we were happy to relax and wait 40 min or so between each course. When the food did arrive it was worth the wait!
