Lovage Restaurant & Bar (13-15 The Circle, Queen Elizabeth Street, London, London, SE1 2JE) Living quite locally I've been to this restaurant countless times and am still in the dark as to why it is so quiet. After visiting again my girlfriend insisted I write a review, hence a review. I'm guessing the slow pace of custom is down to location but if you're down Tower Bridge / Shad Thames way it is well worth a visit. To start with there is a genuine moustachioed Indian chap on the door to welcome you in and you don't get that at most curry houses I'd wager. This initial welcome sets the level of service throughout the evening. Always very attentive and polite. Cannot fault the service. The food is presented on large plates with smaller than your typical curry house portions. Personally I think this is good, less food waste and much better flavour in the dishes. You're also not left feeling as though you could roll home afterwards with how much you've eaten. The Honey Dew Beer on tap goes well as an accompaniment. As for the menu itself, the starters are my personal favourite, a few of the mains lose their way a bit in what seems to be an attempt to pander to traditional British curry dishes – which can be a disappointment. The tandoor is always a good option and the house specialities are worth a look.
