The Cumberland Arms (29 North End Road, London, W14 8SZ)

I have been going to The Cumberland for a few years now and have to say it's a great local pub, with good food, drinks and on the whole a very relaxing ambience. I can only recall of one time when I wasn't able to get a table, becuase of a party, which on a lazy weekend is quite important to me. I like to go there with a small group of friends, as we can chat away in peace over a nice bottle of wine. The food is really quite good, particularly the complimentary bread which is always warm, and the suasage pasta dish is great for a hangover! The staff are always friendly and helpful, and it seems that dogs are always welcome, which i really like. I wouldn't say this is a pub you go to on a big night out, but if you live locally, its definitely worth a visit. The only recommendation I would have for the owners would be to update the furniture… some of the chairs are a bit rickety!

The Jam Tree (58 Milson Road, London, London, W14 0LB)

I've been here a few times now, and overall I'd say my experiences have been a mixed bag. The food for a gastro pub is undoubtedly good and I think pretty reasonably priced. The samosa starter is delicious and they offer a very competitive roast! However, the service is poor and sometimes it feels like they've packed in too many tables which if you're on a table for two in the middle of it, can be a tad uncomfortable. In regards to the service, the owner and staff seem to be overly attentive to some people and completely neglectful to others. I have sat there for a very long time trying to get their attention to order another drink or ask for the bill, which is irritating. I have also experienced the owner coming over to chat constantly which is equally irritating as he is over bearing and loud. But if they could get the latter issues fixed, this place could be an absolute corker of a pub.

Notting Hill Brasserie (92 Kensington Park Road, London, London, W11 2PN)

I love this restaurant. Yes, its pricey; but for an evening out in notting hill with great food and wine, you can't beat it. Not too formal but with staff who are attentive, its always a pleasure to go here.

Gauthier Soho (21 Romilly Street, London, W1D 5AF)

This is a little cracker of a restaurant which hasn't been overwelmed by cliche's and media types! the food is amazing… looks beautiful and tastes even better. The staff were helpful and not too attentive; and the whole experience was very relaxing. We had a great time and I'm looking forward to going back to try a few more courses.
