Wagamama Canary Wharf (45 Bank Street, London, E14 5NY)

I went for a catch up with some old school freinds last week and we went to Wagamama's as it seemed a safe option where you know what to expect and can take your time and chat away as because of the seemingly relaxed atmosphere.
I had been recommended it a couple of years ago but had never visited so this was my Wagamama debut. The seating arrangement and decor was very informal and relaxed as I has expected…it was a shame the waiting staff could not work to the same philosophy! We were rushed to order and when a couple in our party were not ready it was greeted with a huge huff and a sigh…the poor girl!
When the food arrived it was so bland. My dish of “Chilli chicken Men” had my mouth watering with it's desciption and being a keen lover of authentic Noodle dishes it had a lot to live up to.

The obviously microwaved noodles were rubbery and tasteless and the un-inspring one dimensional chilli sauce did little to awake my tastebuds, in fact they were more likely to slip into a coma! The fact that the description of the dish was served with such a range of flavours including lemon grass, red onion garlic ginger and pepper seemed like it could me revised, this dish had only one flavour-chilli- and was a major dissapointment!!

I go to a small authentic Noddle hut near my house in Hampton which is quick, cheap and so extrmely tasty and the service is always with a smile…I imagine this was the idea behind Wagamama when it first started but as usual as the chain grows the spirit flavour and general attention to detail is lost in the pursuit of more cash.

Postive thinking…no…poitively boring…yes!

Foundation Bar (5 Langley Street, London, WC2H 9JA)

On a saturday night out with a few freinds we wanted to go for a drink somewhere and ended up in the Langley. For a night in London where I am normally dissapointed by overhyped and over priced venues this was a breath of fresh air. £3 to get in and about £3.00 for a bottle of Star/Tiger or £5.50 for a cocktail I was more than happy, the bar staff were quick, the drinks were reasonable and the music was brilliant! Everybody in there was just up for a good time and the dance floor was constantly full. If you wanted to have a break from the tunes there was plenty of places to go and chill out for a while but I didnt stray for long. That one drink turned into many and we all stayed until the lights came on at one…that was my only complaint…I was ready to carry on into the wee small hours! Even the bouncers were freindly.

I received many a bleary eyed text on Sunday morning saying what a great night they had, Highly recommended!

Quo Vadis (26-29 Dean Street, London, W1D 3LL)

The classy restaurant/members club recently opened to much interest and upon my visit I wasnt dissapointed. The restaurant is spacius and airy with plenty of talking points scattered among the walls. Works ranging from well known artists such as Damien Hurst to newer and more contemporary pieces provide an interesting backdrop and set the scene well. The menu was filled with very simple dishes to cater for most tastes and whilst my eyes glanced over the menu my nostrils were greeted by the irresistible aroma of freshly baked bread on my table (some of the best I have tasted). Dishes such as the brown shrimp on toast (which was one of the best sea food starters I have ever had) and the crab linguine (do not order a large portion as the medium is plenty) seemed simple enough but were executed perfectly, the service was impeccable and the constant supply of freshly filtered ice cold water was an added extra. We weren't rushed and I felt compelely at ease which is not always the case is some resturants. A perfect place to discuss for either business or pleasure.
