Dishoom (12 Upper St Martins Lane, London, London, WC2H 9FB)

Mixed feelings in every way! I happened to go to Dishoom twice in the same day, once at lunch and then cocktails and dinner. At lunch the staff was plain awful, I must really have come in on a bad day. They just looked like they did not want to be there, almost rude bar one waiter who actually managed to do the job. Food was interesting, but not fantastic.
Then came night, I was dragged back kicking and screaming only because friends of ours were meeting up there, and my what a difference. Staff was charming, much happier, described our food and the cocktails were great! Totally confused! I just hope it was a bad moment earlier Dishoom!
Would go there again maybe sometime, not so soon.

Corner Room (Town Hall Hotel, Patriot Square, London, London, E2 9NF)

I just have to say that is the place for the best pork I have ever had. The Corner room is young in atmosphere, very relaxed with a vintage meet pop art feel. The staff is very helpful and the food is refined, I was not unhappy with anything. Will go again!

Amaya (Halkin Arcade, 19 Motcomb Street, London, London, SW1X 8JT)

Loved Amaya, the atmosphere suited the type of evening that we we had in store. The hostesses were lovely, the little staple accompaniments ooh aahed nicely. It is definitely Indian Cooking with a mega European twist. My only grudge was the overcooked Madagascan prawn. Service was impeccable, the dishes were introduced perfectly well and the hostess was extremely helpful. Will go again.

Le Cercle (1 Wilbraham Place, London, London, SW1X 9AE)

Had a wine dinner at Le Cercle and it was nothing short of fantastic. I came in early enough to have a few drinks at the bar and the bar staff was absolutely charming. We absolutely loved the tuna confit and crackling on the bearnaise, and the sommelier was helpful and attentive to our questions/requests. Great food, beautiful atmosphere (armchair and fire at the bar area), could one want for anything else?

Min Jiang at the Royal Garden Hotel (Royal Garden Hotel, 2-24 Kensington High Street, London, W8 4PT)

Food was good, staff could however be a bit more attentive?

Yauatcha (15 Broadwick Street, London, London, W1F 0DL)

Great place, specially before an evening out. I have to say I have not been able to go anywhere else for dimsum since going there. Also recommend the claypot veal and cocktails. Deserts looked better than they tasted however, but will definitely keep going for more! All in all, a very swanky place, great venison puffs and lovely atmosphere.

The Cinnamon Club (The Old Westminster Library, 30-32 Great Smith Street, London, London, SW1P 3BU)

We got a lovely smiling hostess who suggested having a drink in the bar prior to the meal, which we did. Barman was nice and accommodated a cocktail to my taste. In the end , although we had gone in for the squaremeal offer, we did go for the tasting menu. Food was excellent, although the only thing that annoyed me in the slightest was that when the suggested wines appeared on our table, the waiter was quick to disappear without an explanation, and that also happened when the food arrived. I had to claim a bit of their attention in order to ask what I was being served. All in all, great food, will go again.

Mennula (10 Charlotte Street, London, London, W1T 2LT)

Went there for a family dinner and a great evening to say the least. Staff was lovely and incredibly attentive to my young daughter. Ricotta was out of this world, and food in general was excellent. Will go again.

Benares (12a Berkeley Square House, Berkeley Square, London, London, W1J 6BS)

Unfortunately a friend and I did not enjoy the experience. We went there for a weekday lunch with a time slot of 2.5hrs. However it took 45 mins between the staff seating us and getting the drinks, and may I add, none too pleasantly. We stuck to the ‘platter’ menu as we were now short on time, and we finally did get to the food about 25mins before we had to leave, and had no time for desert. Food itself was a huge disappointment, fusion attempt was amateurish. May have been an offer but as a result will not go back for the tasting menu.
Excellent cocktails however.

Hibiscus (29 Maddox Street, London, W1S 2PA)

Hibiscus never fails. The food never ceases to amaze me, and the staff is never to be faulted. Time is taken to explain dishes, great attention to detail and also that little bit more! The different sommeliers we asked for suggestions were always extremely helpful and I am definitely looking forward to returning soon, it has been a while since my sea bass and earl grey gel, as well as the astonishing purple carrot amuse bouche! Recommend x 10!
