Koffmann's at The Berkeley (The Berkeley, Wilton Place, London, London, SW1X 7RL) I love this restaurant. The food is simply wonderful and, in my opinion, superior to Dinner across the road. It's not cheap but it's Koffmann, one of the world's legendary chefs so hardly a surprise. Lovely pissaladiere as an amuse bouche through squid bolognaise (really!), a perfectly cooked halibut, good wine list and charming staff who never try to up sell.

Brunswick House Café (30 Wandsworth Road, Vauxhall Cross, London, SW8 2LG) Was so looking forward to Sunday brunch at Brunswick House. Hugely atmospheric room, littered with beautiful and eccentric items from next door's Lassco. Sadly, service was so torturously slow and charmless that we walked out without sampling any of the heavily depleted menu. What food they had looked good, they just didn't seem to want to serve it.

Geales (1 Cale Street, London, SW3 3QT) Very pleasant evening at new Geales outpost. Much warmer atmosphere than when Tom Aikens had the place. It was packed with well heeled locals the night we were there, no surprise given the quality of the food and the warmth of the welcome. Good, simple fare. Lobster spaghetti was quite heavenly.

Shaka Zulu (The Stables, Chalk Farm Road, London, NW1 8AH) This was such a disappointing experience. Cold, dark, dank basement. Room for millions yet tables cramped together and only a dozen or so diners. Food terrible (tough tough meat), staff nice but completely lacking in skill and I have never exited a restaurant less pleasantly. Cannot see what their market is. Know it's only just opened but just not good enough.

Lutyens (85 Fleet Street, London, London, EC4Y 1AE) Absolutely adored Lutyens. Wonderful classic french food. My lobster mousse was sublime, the skate perfectly cooked and, although we had admitted defeat only 30 minutes before, somehow managed to descend on a blackcurrant jelly as if we had been starved (actually really quite embarrassing in hindsight). It was all served charmingly in calming surroundings (lovely view of kitchens but not so close that you're making embarrassing eye contact with the chef) by friendly and professional staff. Not cheap, but not ludicrously expensive for what you get. Loved the extensive wine by glass and jug. My new second favourite restaurant after Cafe Anglais! AH
