The Sportsman (Faversham Road, Seasalter, Kent CT5 4BP)

This place is generating alot of hype – and rightly so!
The environs outside give the area and the restaurant a feeling of being past it's best. But the outside appearences are very deceptive. The inside feels warm and relaxed. The tables are rustic pine and feel right for the location. There is no feeling of cramped dining as you are a good distance from your fellow diners. The wine list very well planned and for anyone used to london pricing, a revalation We opted for the tasting menu and we were not let down
Everything is sourced locally where possible. There is a very healthy looking kitchen garden to the rear and a farm a short ride away where they keep pigs and cure their bacon
The highlights for me were the oysters rapped in bacon and the Slip sole cooked with butter and seaweed We travelled down from London and it was well worth the trip

A must for all lovers of food

Portal Restaurant & Bar (88 St John Street, London, London, EC1M 4EH)

Portal is a well planned and laid out venue. Good attention to detail especially in the glass roofed extension. The menu has a strong iberian feel with broad range of regional cooking The food is well presented and the staff while I was there were very attentive
prices are on the high side
overall well worth a visit

Bistrot Bruno Loubet at The Zetter Hotel (The Zetter Hotel, 86-88 Clerkenwell Road, London, EC1M 5RJ)

I visited this eatery for the first timwe last wek for a relaxed lunch it is in a grat location with plenty of natural light
the decor is best described as french urban rustic
I thought the food was grat I started with Mauricette snails and meat balls. The presentation was excellent in terms of colour and layout. For my main course I had the Beef daube Provencal and mousseline potatoes and again it was very well presented. Both courses were perfectly cooked and tasted great.

The wine list is consise with some good well priced wines.
What a pity about the service
Our starters had to be re ordered and our bread never showed up. Generally the service was slow It may have been a one off . The standard of the food will lend me to try it again

Bangalore Express (1 Corbet Court, Gracechurch Street, London, EC3V 0AT)

The entrance to Bangalore Express is bold and promises much. It is centrally located in the heart of the city.
The décor manages to be both bright and bland at the same time
Service was excellent with attentive waiters and the food was served prompt.
However the food was very unappealing a lot mixing Indian food and pizza is not a winning combination. The food was bland with the source for our main course being added as an accompaniment.

I will not be returning

Bocca di Lupo (12 Archer Street, London, London, W1D 7BB)

This is a real find
The restaurant is compact with feeling hemmed in the deco is classically italian and has been created with great plomb The service was excellent with inteligent and helpful staff
The place specialises in regional cuisine. We had the Cuttlefish Risotto and the Lamb Prossciutto
both were a joy to eat
