ARE they kidding me with their prices?! It's not a bloody restaurant – it's some shabby student pub. No way am I paying £9 for a bloody burger WITHOUT sides in Camden. Jeez that infuriated me!

Manna (4 Erskine Road, London, London, NW3 3AJ) Bless this place – I get what they're trying to do, it just hasn't quite come off. Both of my parents are veggies so when they're down in London – it's nice to go to somewhere that can serve them decent veggie grub. This place definitely does that, and I guess that's the most important thing. But the staff, service and surroundings really lets it down. The tofu starter was to die for and the veggie sausages and mash were so tasty and didn't seem too fatty. We had to wait about 50 mins for our main courses and then they committed the mother of all sins by bringing one dish and no more for a further 10 mins! This isn't acceptable for a place that is obviously very popular. The staff were quite rude and unapologetic so my father decided to ask to take the 12.5% (are they kidding) service charge off. At which point, the manager came over and apologised – too little too late. Get your act together – we need decent veggie restaurants!!

Gaucho Smithfield (93a Charterhouse Street, London, EC1M 6HL) This place is like going into a club and being asked to eat there – it's dark with thumping music (and I'm no old biddy – I'm 23 and love going out – but when I go out for dinner, you just don't want that!) The prices are insane, I swear they must have raised them just because of the popularity of the place. You can go round the corner to a little French restaurant (Le Cafe Du Marche) and get a much better steak for a fraction of the price. My colleagues Risotto had too much salt and apart for that was quite bland. Good cocktails, lovely staff. Good bread selection and dip. But apart from that, a total waste of money – just so overpriced. Average chips are charged at £3 for a saucer of them and they don't come with a burger (which again was as good as a Wetherspoons one). I doubt I'll be going again!

Polpo (41 Beak Street, London, London, W1F 9SB) Polpo is one of my favourite restaurants in London (heck, probably the in all of the UK!) The staff are so welcoming and it isn't flashy, gaudy or pretentious. The food is incredible and so much to choose from – this isn't just a rehash of every other tapas bar. I love that the staff leave you alone – they aren't quietly ushering you out of the restaurant – I think a lot of that is helped by the fact they don't take bookings on an evening. Although there is (pretty much always) a big queue, it's so delightful just to have a glass of prosecco at the bar with your partner – candles everywhere, good coffee, decently priced wine – heaven!

Corrigan's Mayfair (28 Upper Grosvenor Street, London, London, W1K 7EH) I regularly go to Corrigan's as it is a great spot to entertain clients and my parents also love it when they are in town. It has a quiet glamour about it and the food lives up to expectations. The staff are ever so attentive and Richard Corrigan himself is often on hand to come out and have a chat! It's nice to see a chef who cares so much about his restaurant. On my last visit, I had the Roasted Scallops with Foie Gras which was so delicate but with such a mix of exciting flavours. I recently took some colleagues there and we took one of their Picnic Hampers onto Hyde Park and basked in the sunshine with delicious picnic dishes and some champers – pure bliss!

Bentley's (11-15 Swallow Street, London, London, W1B 4DG) I visited Bentley's for a birthday meal last month and had an exceptionally fun time! The whole party was treated like royalty and the surroundings are so beautiful. The food was to die for – and although it is predominantly a fish restaurant – they serve incredible steaks with a scrumptious and flavoursome peppercorn sauce. We sat at the bar afterwards and enjoyed a couple of cocktails which were delicious and Bentley's has some of the most welcoming bar staff in town.
