Dinning at the Notting Hill Brasserie, you feel spoilt! The decor is smart, plush yet refined. The menu delivers, and is cleverly organised by the principal ingredient.

Riva (169 Church Road, London, SW13 9HR) The traditional North Italian food and subtle ambience inspire loyalty; Riva is why I love zabaione. Like leaving a holiday, I always find myself planning my next visit on my way home.

Plane Food (Airside, Terminal 5 Heathrow Airport, London, TW6 2GA) This aptly named restaurant is a good alternative to T5's overcrowded lounges. Attentive service and well cooked food, but prices are steep.

Rowley's (113 Jermyn Street, London, SW1Y 6HJ) Always drop-in for the signature “steak frites”, although prices are increasing!

The Wolseley (160 Piccadilly, London, London, W1J 9EB) Virtuoso decor. A very welcoming Sunday brunch/lunch… perfect Eggs Benedict.

The Square (6-10 Bruton Street, London, London, W1J 6PU) Excellent, some of the best food in Europe. Not with standing that the sommelier thought Veneto wines were from the south of Italy!
