With modest prices & a BYO policy (which means you can add your own rum to the fruity mocktails), it’s little wonder Guanabana brims with groups celebrating their 20something birthdays. A hotchpotch of mismatched furniture mirrors the rather mixed-up menu, which takes its cue from across the Caribbean, Central & South America. That’s rather a lot of ground to cover, & the results can be confused. Creamed callaloo & sweetcorn quesadillas, crab & artichoke empanadas, & pan-fried sea bass with feta mash are, perhaps, best left alone in favour of burgers (try the Mexican with guacamole & hot-pepper mayo), sirloin steak fajitas, or jerk baby chicken with a side of cassava chips. The bamboo-clad outdoor area lets in some sunshine – appropriate when you’re eating this kind of food.
