Mezemiso is a Japanese and Lebanese-inspired restaurant and bar found at the Hyatt Regency London Albert Embankment hotel. Japan and Lebanon might not initially seem like they have much in common, but the cuisines of both countries are known for their rich flavours and bountiful colours and Mezemiso seeks to bring the two together.
The restaurant is a sleek operation, with the jewel in its crown being the stunning 14th-floor Thames-side sky terrace, which takes in views of the London Eye and Houses of Parliament. Within, Mezemiso’s decor features a mix of copper and metallic tones, while the glamour is amped up with floor-to-ceiling glass windows, open fireplaces for colder nights and a dedicated shisha and cigar terrace.
As for the menu, you can expect separate Lebanese and Japanese menus, although diners are free to mix and match between the two. The Lebanese portion of the menu comprises hot and cold starters, salads and mains. To start, tuck into the likes of stuffed vine leaves, grilled halloumi cheese or falafel, before moving on to main courses such as freshly baked sea bass or a mixed grill of lamb cutlets, chicken breast cubes and minced lamb.
From the Japanese section of the menu, expect to find a series of classic Japanese staples; begin with prawn tempura and vegetable spring rolls, before tucking into main courses including miso marinated black cod or duck kuwayaki with an orange teriyaki sauce. A selection of maki rolls, sashimi and nigiri is also available.
For pudding, choose between traditional options from both nations - sweet cheese dough stuffed with ice cream flies the flag for Lebanon, while cute-as-can-be mochi balls represent Japan.
Note that Mezemiso’s bar boasts a late licence, so it’s perfect for Londoners looking to make a night of it. Once they’re done partying, the revellers can check in to one of the hotel’s 142 rooms.
