SquareMeal Review of Byblos Harbour

Bronze Award

Tiny Byblos Harbour is one of the few Docklands restaurants to successfully achieve that elusive neighbourhood feel and credit must go to the staff who go out of their way to welcome locals and visitors from the nether regions of the capital. Billed as a ‘Lebanese brasserie’, it sets out its stall with a tempting array of hot and cold mezze – baba gannouj, foul moudamas (fava beans) and kibbeh (minced lamb and wheat balls) – before parading its main events. Expect a choice of grills such as lamb cutlets or baby chicken, which can be matched with a bottle of Château Musar from the short wine list. After that, a shot of arak or a shisha pipe on the waterside terrace keep it all authentic. A moped service whizzes £4 wraps to businesses around the estate.

First time visiting this restaurant today, excellent location with a view of the docks, unfortunately cant say the same about the restaurant, decor quite traditional but the atmosphere quite confusing, couldnt tell whether this was a restaurant or a family home? Kids playing chess on 1 table with cbeebies playing on tv, what looked like a father/waiter having breakfast whilst also serving us, who then grabbed away our plates without excusing or having any manners, while then pouring drink into our cups like it was a running tap on full speed splashing the drink into the cup instead of pouring is the only way to describe it, fortunately didnt ruin the mood, food was ok not too bad, chilli sauce was quite weird, actually tasted a bit like paint the only way to really describe it, but will not be returning again. A shame for such a nice location and restaurant to have customer service at its lowest.
