GLASSHOUSE CAFE AND BAR HAS PERMENANTLY CLOSED. REPLACED BY THE CHELSEA COURTYARD BISTRO & BAR
Outsize parasols, water features and patio heaters make The Chelsea Courtyard an all-weather alfresco option for cocktails, brunch and light meals. Pivotal to the place is this bar, occupying a flagstone-floored conservatory that fronts a cool cellar laid with upcycled furniture. Order Argentinean Malbec or perky Sicilian Pinot Grigio, two of a dozen fairly priced wines by the glass, to accompany the likes of salads, toasted Italian sandwiches, fresh soups, affogato and iced coffees. Cheese, veggie and charcuterie boards for two (£30!) are served with sundowners: Spritzes, G&T or various signature sips. We appreciate a dandelion and burdock, bourbon Old Fashioned, and a fennel and sage-infused gin and green Chartreuse Martini laced with ‘Thai magic syrup’. Spicy smoky Tequila and Campari fix, La Catrina, is billed as ‘deadly hot’. ‘Deadly’ might equally describe the bill. A more affordable and superior list can be had at the nearby Ivy Chelsea Garden.
