Located within Nottingham’s premier Alea Casino, this branch of Marco Pierre White’s steakhouse chain has all the trademark features you might expect: jet black walls, vibrant red seating, contemporary white walls, elegant trappings and a menu that doesn’t stint on the British beef. Native cuts are served with triple-cooked chips and various sauces, the list of grills extends to rump of lamb and spatchcock chicken, and there are fish ‘mainboards’ too (battered haddock, salmon fishcakes, sea bream with chorizo and potatoes etc). Begin with chicken and black pudding terrine or a bowl of mussels ‘Billy By’, and round off with banana Eton mess, sherry trifle or local cheeses. Sunday lunch offers a choice of three classic roasts with all the trimmings, and there are plenty of beefy reds on the wine list.
