Set in the rolling Surrey countryside, the ivy-clad 19th-century Pennyhill Park Hotel combines five-star gloss with a refreshingly relaxed atmosphere that appeals across the board. Corporate clients come for the just-out-of-town location and varied meeting spaces (but usually manage to shoehorn in a visit to the spa), while the individually designed bedrooms, with careful touches such as pillow menus and handmade mattresses, keep the weekenders loyal. International sports teams come for the full-size training pitch and high-spec gym. Michelin-starred restaurant The Latymer is about as formal as it gets, serving up high-end European cooking with a French bias and bread from the hotel’s new bakery, which is also available for baking masterclasses. Another draw is the 4,200 sq m spa, which has eight pools, thermal cabins and a VIP suite for groups. The venue offers exclusive use and carbon-neutral conferencing.
