What could be better on a warm summers day than drinks in a hidden haven nestled among the capital’s skyscrapers? The open-air courtyard at the City of London Club is a bit of a suntrap too, making it the perfect place for an after-work barbecue or cocktail reception. Although the venue itself – a historic private members’ club – has a smart feel, the terrace’s practical paved floor and cool whitewashed walls make it feel much more informal. The second-floor space, which can hold 50 standing, opened out from the patio doors in the Garden Room, which has painted and mirrored walls and a laid-back mint green mint colour scheme.
