With its prime Piccadilly Circus location and one of the most fabulous interiors in the capital, The Criterion has been drawing in A-listers for more than a century. After a few years out of the limelight, the Grade II-listed restaurant is seeing a return to form, with a strong emphasis on private events. When booked exclusively, the decadent dining room seats 150 beneath gold ceilings – and it’s just as well suited to stand-up receptions for up to 300. Smaller parties can use The Terrace, a raised area at the back of the restaurant, which holds up to 75. The cuisine is modern British with European influences, and features a great range of grills to share. Game season is a culinary highlight.
